This is the BA Rye Whiskey version with the pale yellow label.
The liquid is black, there is a thin beige head that quickly dissolves into a thin ring leaving no lacing.
The smell is (very) sweet and smooth with toffee, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, coffee candy and a hint of dark rum. It reminds quite a lot of my favourite after dinner drink: Brandy Alexander.
The taste is sweet, but the sweetness is nor sharp or artificial. Notes of vanilla, toffee and chocolate cookies. Some raisins, oak and bourbon. Medium to full body. The sweet aftertaste got cocoa, roasted malts, growing hot alcohol, sweet liquorice and black currant liquor. The finish is malty with barrel-aged notes, dark chocolate, prunes and salty caramel.
The carbonation is light, the small short-lived bubbles tickle the tongue. The liquid is smooth but not sticky.
I am generally not convinced of those lactose-sweetened stouts. But this one is elegant, balanced and is more beer than liquid candy.

Rye whiskey barrel aged 375 ml bottle split 3 ways - 11.9% ABV.
Pours a dark brown - pushing to black with slightly viscous appearance and scant head.
Aroma strongly chocolate and vanilla with caramel notes and evident oak and whiskey.
Decadent chocolate malt on the palate with fudge and vanilla and lactose sweetness; notes of caramel and whiskey - slightly boozy.
Moderately full rich mouthfeel - sweet but not cloying (though 4 ounces probably enough), exceptionally smooth fudgesicle like finish.

Definitely a desert beer. Not always a big fan of desert beers but this is a very good one, in my opinion.
