Hey, I also picked this up at Holiday! What a co-een-kee-deenk.
Poured at 52, 53ish degrees from a 12.7oz corked/caged bottle into a pint. Cork smelled delicious. Woody and herbaceous.
A: Deep amber, almost opaque-looking unless you hold it up to a light. Little itty bitty head, surprising because I gave this a fairly aggressive pour and it seems pretty sparkley.
S: Same as the cork, but with a much more prominent caramel undertone. Very sweet, not boozy at all, oakey, a little peppery.
T: Hides 12% unbelievably well. I'm astonished, really. Big, huge, bold malt in the front. Definitely some of that noticeable candi sugar tang. A whiff of hops in the finish. Not terribly complex, but definitely gigantic.
M: Smooth, thick, just the right amount of carbonation. Perfect body for a high-grav BW.
D: Really, the best thing about this beer is how well it hides the alcohol. I'm not saying that it's a session beer by any means, it's definitely a dessert beer. Meant to be savored.

Got this out the bargain bin at the local liquor store for 2.50, not a bad deal. Poured out a very dirty, murky reddish brown color with a small head that died away to a tiny ring. Smells of dark fruity notes, figs and the like, malty caramel sweets/just plain sugar and some hops. Hit of booze already in the nose. Taste is similar but with a lot more hops than expected, kinda threw it all off. Lingering biterness from said hops and the booze made this slightly harsh to drink, not too bad though. Overall, can't say it was my thing but was quite the experience

12.7 fl. oz. bottle served in a tulip. Lots of sediment present in the base of the bottle and the cap is pretty cruddy looking. Pours the color and clarity of unpasteurized cider with a side, cream-colored head embedded with copious tiny ringlets. Nose expresses notes of figs and candi sugar as well as a trace of spirits. Taste follows nose; however, it's a bit muted and watered down. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body (but closer to light) with a mild carbonation, a trace of oiliness and a hint of ethanol heat. Overall, a decent offering albeit a bit lackluster. Unsure of the age; however, I think this one has a few years on it.
