First run in with Mikkeller. Bottle not dated. That may be part of the problem here.
Brewed at De Proefbrouwerij, Belgium
Swamp water appearance. Sea foam head. Nose was the best thing going for it. One dimensional bitter sludge sipping. Working my way through this mess. Resinous pine and chlorophyll taste. Sweet malt. I'm thinking it was past its freshness date but without a hint to when it was brewed or when it should be drank by I would say a renegade brewer with their own artistic views and no consideration for the end consumer has made a mediocre brew. Check freshness if you are going to try this beer.

I'm embarrassed for myself. I paid 9 bones for this. Either mikkellar has the worst hop contracts in the world or Shelton brothers just hates me. It's alright, lot of green taste and not in the most pleasant resiny way one might expect. I suspect I'm tasting a hop profile I'm not interested in, but at the same time the dry hopping technique leaves something to be desired. Body and carbonation are on point.

Pours a two fingers head that fades soon, leaving good ring and lace. Aroma of herbs, pepper, spices, some citrus notes. Medium body, creamy and harsh palate, great carbonation. Taste of spruce, lemon, herbs, candy, spices.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 11/3/2016. Pours lightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, lemon/orange rind, pine, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness, that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderate sticky/resinous/creamy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent IPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. This still tasted really fresh to me for being 6 months old, assuming that the dating is one year out. A very enjoyable offering.

Shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice hazy dark gold with a fat head that faded to leave nice lacing

S - Aromas of nice grassy hops, floral, light pine.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, good light floral hops, grassy, strong bitter finish.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, bit thin and watery.

O - Overall this was a rather a generic ipa.

No thanks to rudzud

Light fizzy head little lacing legs hazy bright orange color.
Nose ok, some citrus fruit faint tropical, but also grassy herbal sticky hop, fruity, earthy, grassy, little funky thing, lemony citrus.

Taste sweet malt with grassy toasted straw malt, into big grassy spicy chewy hops, little briny, mild booze and sweet malt, super bitter. Finish terrible briny spicy bleh hops.

Mouth is med bod little booze and still thin somehow, decent carb.

Overall very poor choice in hops.
