Drank from a 1 pt .9 fl oz bottle
Served in a snifter
Acquired in a trade with kkipple
The beer poured an opaque, thick, near black with brown edges. No head was present but merely a thin layer of coffee-colored froth that quickly faded to a lasting collar. Spotty drops of lacing trickled down the glass.
The aroma was simply amazing. Super coffee rich (espresso-like) with sweet vanilla and brown sugar notes. Semi-sweet chocolate was apparent as well. As the beer warmed, some bourbony/boozy notes came out as well.
The taste was exceptionally rich and smooth. Coffee/espresso notes dominated the flavor profile, as was expected. The coffee was smooth and yet somewhat acidic. Up front the beer was sweet and creamy with subtle hints of caramel. Dark chocolate, vanilla and roast appeared appeared in the center, along with some bourbon and brown sugar. Strong espresso and roast notes, dark chocolate, oak and a touch of bourbon came through on the slightly warming finish.
The mouthfeel was possibly the single best I have ever experienced in a beer. Ultra creamy, frothy and supple on the palate. Velvety smooth and slick. Even though the oatmeal was overwhelmed by the intensity of the coffee in the flavor profile, it did wonders for the texture. Simply astounding.
This beer was remarkably drinkable. Not only was the flavor profile smooth and well balanced, but the 10.9% ABV was remarkably well hidden.
My friend recently brought me back some civet coffee on his trip to Vietnam. Even though the coffee was far from outstanding, I became obsessed with finding this beer ever since. The steep coast and the legwork involved was definitely worth it. Beer Geek Brunch Weasel definitely has one of the most intense coffee flavors I have ever experienced in a beer. Coupled with the other amazing attributes of this brew, it takes the cake for the best overall coffee flavored beer I have yet to try.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway. Batch #418, ABV is 10.9%. Pitch black colour, huge chocolate brown head. Lovely aroma of dark roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, hints of dark fruits. Intense flavour of coffee (can’t say if the "weasel" coffee was worth the price, though), also a massive malty sweetness and a solid roasty and hoppy bitterness, lasting through the long aftertaste. Not for sissies.

Fresh roasting on the nose.
Color impenetrable black.
Foam beige, evanescent even if the beer is poured vertically.
In the mouth there is a clear prevalence of toasted niote and coffee that also hide hints of chocolate and a hint of tobacco.
Non-existent carbonation.
But given the light body (too watery for my personal taste) it really feels like a brew of coffee.
I was expecting a beer with a different body honestly, but to taste it did not disappoint.

Look: Pours a very, very pitch black color with a tiny, quarter finger head of beige foam. No lacing on the glass.
Aroma: Slightly chalky, herbal and bittersweet. An unpleasant soy sauce note is the first thing that jumps out at me. Lots of milk chocolate, semi-tart candied raisins and coffee beans. Some burnt toast and marzipan. Bourbon is in the background, a tepid medicinal, woody, resinous aroma. I think that's whats giving the beer it's "chalkiness" I was describing earlier. Cloying.
Taste: Very complex, a little too complex maybe? There's a lot to the beer and I'm afraid it all gets lost in translation. It's boozy, not atypical of a 11%er, but . . . it's just all over the place. The taste isn't bad, but it's very tannic and hard to take more than a tablespoon of a sip at a time, without your palate being completely overpowered by this herbal, sour, medicinal aftertaste. There's a nice cola and coffee flavor but it's so brief, before sickly sweet notes of chocolate syrup overpower everything. Then it becomes almost medicinal and woody. . . . and my god that aftertaste of sour soy sauce and grape juice. Yuck.
Feel: The worst part about it. Dry. Sweet. Slimy. Sticky. Oily. Thin. Hot. Boozy. Chalky. Not a fan. I would never be able to tell this was brewed with oatmeal until I read it on the bottle.
Overall: Maybe I got a bad batch. Mikkeler is usually on point but this is a classic example of one of the downsides of gypsy brewing; quality control. For such a complex beer where so much can go wrong, when you're using such an obscure ingredient like ca phe chon coffee . . . you really need to tripple check you dotted your "i"s and cross your "t"s so to say. . . Something was just off and didnt click here. I couldn't finish my bottle. . . sad to say this was a drain pour.

Very nice, has a definite coffee bitterness that isn’t a turn off, as a coffee stout should taste. Smell has an upfront chocolate maltball note, goes down easy enough with a nice coffee kick in the back of the throat afterwards. Looks just about as good as any breakfast stout, nothing crazy, will a fleeting caramel-mocha head from a vigorous pour into a tulip. Well done, check it out if you see it.

Poured from 11.2oz bottle into glass. No bottling date information found. Label has the beer brewed and bottled at Lervig Aktiebryggeri, Norway.
Black colored body, with just a smidge of a dark brown edge when back lit. No read head upon pouring, what sticks around is a small island and thin ring, both fed by rising bubbles. Leaves behind some lacing spots, most of which slide back down into the beer.
Aroma is of dark roasted malts, but this one has a hint of sweetness. Heavy coffee, with additions of subtle smoke, chocolate and dark fruits.
Taste is quite heavy, with its dark roasted malts and coffee. Also expresses chocolate and dark fruit. This one has a hint of smoke but no allusion to grilled meats.
Heavy mouth feel, with a mouth coating sensation. Okay carbonation.
For a higher ABV% beer, the alcohol is well hidden. As the beer warms, at times, it expresses a sensation reminiscent of cherry cola (but ensconced in rich and deep coffee). The after taste has more decadent chocolate than in the main taste profile. The beer has a forbidding appearance because of its lack of foam, but the overall aroma, taste, and mouth feel is very much of a treat.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into my snifter. The beer pours a deep cola brown color with fizzy tan head that is minimal and fades to almost nothing immediately after I pour the beer.
The aroma is roasted malt and rich coffee scents. I also get some milk chocolate and a bit of dark fruit underneath the chocolate. Pretty complex and interesting nose, not for the hop heads out there I suppose.
First sip reveals an average body with a bit of a chewy texture and very fine tingly carbonation. The liquid slides easily down with each swallow. The carbonation does leave a bit of a prickly sensation, almost like cayenne pepper on my tongue.
Flavor is what the nose advertises with lots of malt. I get roasted notes and coffee with some brown sugar and milk chocolate mixing together. A little dark chocolate and some molasses too, again, lots of depth to this beer and again, no hops. The booze is also pretty well hidden for 10.9%, as it drinks very easy and leaves no warming on my palate.
Quite a nice imperial coffee stout that Im glad to have tried, I would buy this one again even though it was a little pricey for one bottle ($9.50). Enjoy!
