Black with a small, but seriously creamy head. Smell is of berry-like coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and some citrus. Flavor is a smooth blend of coffee and chocolate...nuts, berries, vanilla, dark chocolate covered cherries. Mouthfeel is the star of the show - creamy, velvety smooth, and thick, but drying out in the finish aided by a roasty bitterness. The aroma is the only real let-down of an otherwise nicely balanced coffee stout.

100th review...I decided to go with something that has been sitting in the cellar for a while.
Bottle purchased in 2010
Pours black as the night with a good sized mocha head. I noticed some strange large chunks during the pour which is where the points off came from.
Smells of faint hops lots of chocolate malt slight coffee scent
Taste is sweet velvety milk chocolate....almost like a chocolate malt milkshake. This tastes like a grown up version of young's double chocolate stout. The coffee notes are barely existent but it has a very nice roast character.
Mouthfeel is amazing but oatmeal used right always seems to give that nice creamy texture. Carbonation is right where it should be.
Overall this is an amazing beer it has aged like a champ and over the last 2 years has transformed into a completely different beer.

appearance - black and viscous on pour. pretty headless. no lacing to speak of except minor rim.
smell - coffee and chocolate. a bit of sour grape? or is that poop? smells good. darkness
taste - a certainly odd coffee like roast. deep dark chocolate. an odd bitter/oil there.
mouthfeel - oddly the appearance didnt mean too much in this aspect. wasnt that thick, decent carbonation. oil coating in the mouth was there.
sort of weirded me out since my friends kept talking about it being made of turds. skipped ahead to the rumpkin, but a good beer nonetheless.

Impressive thick and dense dark tan head. Lots of ring lace. Near black in color. No light passes through.
Coffee and cream aroma.
Very dark flavors of black patent, almost like espresso. Lighter body than I expected. Lots of chewy burnt malts--subtle dark molasses sweetness in the background. The aftertaste is quite bitter.

A- Black as oil with some deep ruby highlight and a dense tan head.
S- Very earthy, coffee aroma with an espresso-like intensity and some hints of berries and honey.
T- Very deep roasted and burnt flavor with notes of coffee, nuttiness, a little smokey and this deep earthy/woody undertone that is really unique. Touch of booze is noticeable at the finish; bit of a warming alcohol presence as well.
M- Very smooth, med/full body with an easy carbonation.
D- Definitely one of the most unique stouts I've ever tasted; truly and experience and well-worth seeking out.

L - pitch black with a thin brown lacing
S - Coffee coffee and coffee, Nothing overwhelming
T - Light earthy hops, coffee all long, really nice coffee by the way. Light oatmeal with not too much acidity, just good balance. Nuts
F - Smooth with a gentle carbonation
O - Great beer, nice balance. Not boozy at all. Certainly the best oatmeal stout I've had to date
