Pleasant, dark chocolate flavor, full bodied, moderate carbonation, slightly smoked, bready, syropy. Coffee barely present.

Pours pitch black and oily with a two finger tan head.

Smell is of coffee, bitter chocolate, nuts, and roasted malts. Also bit of a boozy smell coming through - almost like a cognac?

The taste is really good - honestly did not expect it after the smell, which while it wasn't bad, wasn't amazing either. Thick chocolately and boozy up front with a bitter finish. Undertones of roasted nuts, coffee, and malts. Finishes with a sweet vanilla aftertaste that leaves you anticipating the next sip. Its hard to explain, but the taste is initially a bit choppy, but it finishes really smoothly.

Feel is very lusciously thick with a surprising amount of carbonation considered it poured pretty still. Very smooth and very drinkable.

Overall a very enjoyable and tasty brew. I'm glad I got the chance to try it, but at the going rate for this beer ($9/12 oz in Chicago), I won't be picking it up again.

All the pleasantries of the breakfast stout with an added depth of chocolatey flavor and even creamier full body feel. Very good. Cheers!

Pouring in my snifter, I see a rich viscous obsidian black fluid hugging the glass and producing an evanescent tan head.
As I marvel at it, there it comes, the luring aroma of coffee. Mixed with the layers of roasty dark chocolate with sweet nutty notes in it. Maybe some dark fruit and even vanilla.
I have to clarify that she's not the best smelling coffee stout I have had.
Sipping it, roasty malts and intense coffee. Lots of dark dark chocolate. Coffee delivers in terms of not being bitter or burnt yet intense, which is hallmark of civet coffee. I taste dried prunes and almost a boozy liquor like (rum or sherry truffles) in the backend.
It has a very very smooth slick feel thanks to the oats. And the taste lingers and lingers like a sloth climbing a sequoia.
It is truly heavenly delight and absolutely worth it. I don't think I will buy this in big volumes (too many good and slightly more affordable stouts to try still) but certainly an occasional treat.
Cheers!

Deep black, but lacking head. Oily, flat (appearance). Aroma was a mixture of liquors. Wouldn't say it smacked heavy of cognac, more of just unidentified booze. Did have some leather, smoke and oak complexities.

Taste was warming, some coffee, but not as big as the non barreled versions of this beer. Some complexities like oak and citrus underneath the coffee and cognac. A super expensive beer. One of those special occasion beers.

Best before 19.05.25.

Pours a very dark brown body with a healthy head. Aroma reminds me of fresh ground coffee. Flavor has less coffee but more of a milky chocolate taste but finishes with bitter oats. Gets better as it warms but i prefer my stouts with more smoothness.
