Appearance: pours a deep black with just a touch of mahogany around the edges. a small tan head that leaves behind a creamy lacing. Dark and opaque.

Smell: maple syrup, light stale coffee, rich maltiness, milk chocolate, bitter roast. some prunes and other dark fruits

Taste: opens with a smooth and creamy milk chocolate sweetness that ends with notes of maple syrup. a big roasty bitterness takes over along with more coffee and some stale coffee.

Mouthfeel: smooth and creamy. nice roasty bitterness and some warmth to it.

Overall: a nice beer. coffee is on the lower end and slightly stale but it does nicely with the overall balance of the beer.

330ml bottle into a tulip glass. It's been cellared for better than a year.

Pitch and opaque black color brew with a 1F brown cap that eases down to a thick film. Fat rings and spot lacing.

Strong licorice at first then come the dark chocolate and coffee. There's alcohol, too.

Lots of roast. Malt, chocolate, coffee. The licorice stays strong. Hints of sweet whisky.

Medium-full body with a touch or carbonation tingle. The coffee is still strong after aging. The oatmeal adds body.

The licorice holds this back some for my liking, still good, though.

Bottle into a tulip. Very dark brown on the pour and black in the glass. A thin head of brown foam briefly rests on top before quickly fizzing down into nothing. The nose is bittersweet dark chocolate, toasty coffee, lactose, and a hint of vanilla. The taste follows along in the same vein. Loads of milky chocolate and booze, vanilla, caramel malt, and expresso. Wonderfully dense and chewy. With the specific style in mind, I think this might be better than FBS. Great beer.

Pours a black colour, with a brown head, medium retention. Thin dotted lace.Aroma of chocolate, mocha, licorice, dried fruits, spices. Creamy palate, full body, carbonation is just enough, Taste is similar to the aroma: chocolate, mocha, red and dried fruits, spices. All that you want, A beast. Best Mikkeler I've had.

This brew is an opaque, brownish-black beer with a tall brown-tan head. The aroma is intense with coffee, roasted grain, and dark fruit. The taste is fairly dry, and a nice balance. The coffee and roasted notes come out swinging. Full in body, warming, creamy, and intense. Of course, the unique coffee makes this a 'gimmick' beer. Nonetheless, it is well-made, tasty, interesting, and substantial. I liked it.

Unknown vintage; drank 4/1/15 on draft @ Fischmans.

Black/brown appearance.

Nice dark tan head; nice lace.

Raw oats & bakers chocolate in the nose.

Creamy, medium thick mouthfeel.

Milk chocolate & mild raspberry flavors up front; a faintly chalky finish. A rich, drinkable treat with no booze heat. Tasty!

11.2 oz. bottle

Pours opaque pitch black with a frothy brown foam head. Smells like rich woody dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, black cherry, fig, plum, black grape, some molasses, dark caramel, brown sugar, oats, vanilla, roasted malts, with earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like rich, woody, nutty dark roast coffee, dark chocolate pudding, black cherry, fig, plum, black grapes, molasses, dark caramel, charred brown sugar, vanilla, oats, roasted malts, with spicy earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy and smooth with low tingling carbonation. Overall a really great Vietnamese coffee imperial oatmeal stout.

Stellar black with a hint of brown near the edges in sunlight. The one quarter finger of head is rusty brown and dissipates immediately. Alcohol legs, and almost a stain of brown left on the glass.

Smells of big coffee, alcohol, black liquorice, and sweet, sugary notes of icing sugar.

Coffee, hints of liquorice, a solid sweet, and almost sugary, fruity notes. Its like those assorted black liquorice candies that come in multiple colours, only emphasising the black liquorice.

Thick, oily body, with thin, wisp like carbonation.

Been cellaring this one for a while. Got it on Wish beer, drinking in Chiang Mai, Nov 7th, 2016. Outstanding? The fact that it supposedly has Kopi Luwak in it makes it outstanding. I've had coffee Luwak from Indonesia on several occasions, both when I went to Jakarta, and by brewing the beans I purchased there. Nothing to make the actual beans distinguishable in the flavour in this brew. It is however a good, solid example of an Imperial stout just the same.
