330ml bottle poured into a snifter.

Jet inky black in color, the pour gradually forms up very thick tan foamy head that very well retains itself with very good retention before slowly subsiding to an everlasting effervescence film on the surface and leaving lots of lacing patch and spot on the glass-side.

Very nice coffee aroma, it is like espresso, black coffee, or even mocha with no any astringency or sourness. Chocolate in kind of dark and creamy milky as well as cocoa powder, licorice can also be sensed together with dark fruits in kind of plum and black cherry. Malt is also there with big breadiness of dark bread, roasted, some smoke, toasted biscuit, vanilla, and caramel while hop with subtle floral scent. The aroma is almost flawless for non-barrel aging Imperial Stout.

The more the beer settles itself, the more deliciousness that you will get, so, enjoy it slowly. It is still coffee to dominate the taste buds. The coffee profile is very intense and tasty with only slight astringency from roasted malt. Chocolate and cocoa powder too as well as solid malt bill with notes of dark bread, toasted biscuit, roasted, some smoke, vanilla, and caramel yet with the smoothness from oat. Apart from that, it also provides the suggestion of licorice and dark fruits to add some complexity to the flavor structure. The end is all those flavors to wrap up and nicely mingle together along with a slight hop bitterness trait.

Full body with some stickiness but not cloying, very smooth through the mouthfeel from some crisp and some lively carbonation, it is not that much but it is proper to carry all the things well. Finish is very dry and pleasant.

Super tasty and delicate brew, I have to stop myself to not quaffing it too fast. The coffee profile here is very rich, prominent, and refined that is also being nicely complement by great chocolate and roasted character. Alcohol is quite hidden underneath the coffee greatness which only some poke through once it is warm.

Bought a bottle at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. Beer pours with a pure black, oil-like appearance with very thin dark brown lacing on the sides and very little head. Full aromas of chocolate, coffee, alcohol, and vanilla. The taste followed the nose but definitely sensed some dark fruit and cherry flavors being more pronounced in the aftertaste. Lightly creamy with a medium carbonation. Overall, fantastic aromas with a spectacular flavor dynamic.

Appearance: pours a deep black with just a touch of mahogany around the edges. a small tan head that leaves behind a creamy lacing. Dark and opaque.

Smell: maple syrup, light stale coffee, rich maltiness, milk chocolate, bitter roast. some prunes and other dark fruits

Taste: opens with a smooth and creamy milk chocolate sweetness that ends with notes of maple syrup. a big roasty bitterness takes over along with more coffee and some stale coffee.

Mouthfeel: smooth and creamy. nice roasty bitterness and some warmth to it.

Overall: a nice beer. coffee is on the lower end and slightly stale but it does nicely with the overall balance of the beer.

330ml bottle into a tulip glass. It's been cellared for better than a year.

Pitch and opaque black color brew with a 1F brown cap that eases down to a thick film. Fat rings and spot lacing.

Strong licorice at first then come the dark chocolate and coffee. There's alcohol, too.

Lots of roast. Malt, chocolate, coffee. The licorice stays strong. Hints of sweet whisky.

Medium-full body with a touch or carbonation tingle. The coffee is still strong after aging. The oatmeal adds body.

The licorice holds this back some for my liking, still good, though.

Bottle into a tulip. Very dark brown on the pour and black in the glass. A thin head of brown foam briefly rests on top before quickly fizzing down into nothing. The nose is bittersweet dark chocolate, toasty coffee, lactose, and a hint of vanilla. The taste follows along in the same vein. Loads of milky chocolate and booze, vanilla, caramel malt, and expresso. Wonderfully dense and chewy. With the specific style in mind, I think this might be better than FBS. Great beer.

Pours a black colour, with a brown head, medium retention. Thin dotted lace.Aroma of chocolate, mocha, licorice, dried fruits, spices. Creamy palate, full body, carbonation is just enough, Taste is similar to the aroma: chocolate, mocha, red and dried fruits, spices. All that you want, A beast. Best Mikkeler I've had.

This brew is an opaque, brownish-black beer with a tall brown-tan head. The aroma is intense with coffee, roasted grain, and dark fruit. The taste is fairly dry, and a nice balance. The coffee and roasted notes come out swinging. Full in body, warming, creamy, and intense. Of course, the unique coffee makes this a 'gimmick' beer. Nonetheless, it is well-made, tasty, interesting, and substantial. I liked it.
