Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into a Mikkeller tulip.

Bottle dated 29/04/10 but the cap appears to be dated 29/04/11

A: Pours a crystal-clear, bright and glowing golden color with a full three-fingers of creamy, bright-white head up top. The foam eventually receded down to a lumpy/chunky skim that left gobs of sticky lace in the glass. Carbonation was adequate.

S: Delicious floral hop aroma, with hints of butter, earthy yeast, red apple, and spice.

T: I was struck, at first, by the spicy and herbal hop flavor. That lead into a floral hoppiness that turned into ripe red apple, and finally a big dose of white pepper. Earthy yeast flavors were quite prevalent.

M: This had a pretty big and oily beginning that turned a little drier during the middle and finish and doled out a bunch of spicy/prickly white pepper.

D: I'm not a huge fan of this style but I found myself racing through this beer. Really, very good.

Nice clarity, head and lacing. Spicy ginger and yeast aroma. Malt imparts a buttered bread like quality. Spicy, somewhat stale hop character. Medium bodied with a coarse yeast texture from the floaties. Ok.

From tasting notes.
L: Pours hazy dark gold to amber under a 1” quickly dissipating white foam collar.
S: Spicy grain aromas.
T: Big malt flavors seasoned by spicy hops, medium dry.
F: Clean and smooth, medium full body, medium carbonation.
O: A little zaftig for a pilsner but a good drink.

Drank this jaun straight outta the bottle. A year or two past bottling date. One of the few beers inserted into my rotation less than 6 percent abv. This one clocked in at a rather low 4.6. It was a delicious Czech style Pilsner. Not as much bite or bitterness like a Stella iOS Pilsner urquell but full of flavor. Finished with a hint of lemon. Delicious brew. Said it was a belgian collaboration possibly belgian yeast which was sediment present in the bottle.

Not a typical Pilsner, but what Mikkeller is typical? A dark golden color verging on brown. A bit cloudy with a one and a half of white foam. Clean, fresh pilsner aromas on the nose. The mouthfeel and the taste is a bit heavy for a pilsner. It is very smooth, but it is heavy and lacks a certain crispness that you look for in a well-made pilsner. Still at the end, a pilsner with character, body and flavor which all too often in lacking in beers labelled as Pilsner. I'd drink it again.

Single bottle picked up from Sherbrooke Liquor Store in Edmonton.

It pours a murky yellow-brown colour similar to that of iced tea with about 1.5 fingers' worth of head. Personally I hate these iced tea looking beers - it's like an unpleasant combo of yellow and brown. The head smells hoppy - not like IPA hoppy, but an appropriate level for a pilsner.

The taste brings much of the same hoppiness with a trace of lingering bitterness on the tongue which sort of makes me just crave another sip. The aftertaste is clean; there are no cringe-worthy remnants from this beer that make finishing it a chore. The beer is heavily carbonated, although it feels pleasant in my mouth. The body is nicely balanced - it's a little thick on the tongue going in, but a lot smoother going down.

Overall, a great European Pilsner. It's just a pity that it's so hard to find.

Initially I thought this pilsner was going to be great. Poured a fantastic hazy gold and smelled of slight lemons, grassy notes and clove. Definitely subtle though.

Taste wasn't as good. Tasted mostly of cereal with a touch of grassy hops and some peppery clove flavors.

Mouthfeel was sharp and fizzy. Felt very carbonated but didn't quite have the head to match.

Overall a great pils to try and compare if you like the style but otherwise I might not pick this one up again.

A - Hazy orange/gold with a lot of sediment floating around. Nice looking pils, but apparently you really can't judge a book by its cover.

S - Citrus fruits, a bit hoppy and bready. Floral notes.

T - The citrusy notes come through but so does an unpleasant grassy flavor. Even worse, this one has a smoky/rubber aftertaste that is extremely unpleasant. The band-aid flavor people keep mentioning is not a joke. Very disappointed.

M - Light body with average carbonation. Typical pilsner.

This was my second Mikkeller beer and a huge disappointment after the first. As someone that really appreciates a good pilsner, this one just doesn't fall in that category. It has no problem pleasing any of the other senses, but if it doesn't taste right it isn't worth drinking...

A - Hazy golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head. Fades normal.

S - Pilsner malts, citrus and noble hops, biscuit, lager yeast, bit of lemon zest.

T - Pilsner and some biscuity and sweet grainy malts, citrus and noble hops, some bitterness, some lemon zest, some lager yeast.

M - Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a dry, lightly bitter finish.

D - Nice hoppy pilsner. Good overall balance.
