12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours a semi-cloudy, copper color with a 1 finger white head that gives way to a foamy cap. Decent lacing on the glass.

Nose is a resiny, piny aroma with a hint of citrus and rounded out by some sweet malt scents.

Taste is similar although a bit more of the fruity flavors come through. Pine taste up front followed by the citrusy flavors and a nice caramel malt going in the background.

Medium carbonation but overall the beer seems to be a bit heavier than that. Dry, bitter finish.

As with the last one of these single hop series beers I had (Nugget), one in a sitting is enough as the point seems to be (obviously) showing off each different hop by itself. Still highly drinkable, but switching another in the series might be a better idea.

330ml bottle. Haven't had one of these single-hop dealios from Mikkeller in a while, though it is admittedly hard to keep track of them, oh, wait, right.

This beer pours a glassy, medium copper amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, tightly foamy, and eventually a tad creamy tan head, which leaves some stellar webbed lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of crackery caramel malt, butterscotch, pine resin, bitter orange rind, a muddled berry fruitiness, and further floral, mildly perfumed hops. The taste is bready caramel malt, toasty toffee, pleasant citrus flesh notes, lesser piney, leafy wet forest astringencies, more semi-sweet dark berries, and herbal, leafy, and floral hops.

The carbonation is quite subtle and enjoyably frothy, the body a sturdy medium weight, and plainly smooth, the alcohol inching in, bit by bit. It finishes well off-dry, the various caramel malt incarnations doing well to persist, alongside the more fruity, rather than bitter, side of the Chinook hop varietal.

Another decently rendered single-hop affair, where the hop in question seems more than capable of carrying the day, and the beer as a whole. Citrusy, and with enough flora backup singers to effect the sense of complexity that I'm grokking here. Good stuff - I guess my takeaway here is that I like Chinook hops!
