Came out strangely brown actually, didn't look like a 'pale' ale at all. Very thin minimal off white head. Aroma kicked down lots of pine and woodsy green herbal hop components.

Taste, well it definitely delivered on the high ibu claims, but is that something to brag on? Much better beers with lower ibu ranges, especially in the ipa category, something Mikkeller has always had a hard time with, much less providing one affordably. This is no different. Way too expensive to justify a return excursion. Just a big hot, bitter bomb of a beer. So much caramel and toffee.

Its like if Mikkeller made Bigfoot ale.

12 oz bottle. Pours cloudy amber, two finger head. Big caramel and citrus aroma. Taste is similar with caramel toasted bread and tons of grapefruit peel. Bitterness lasts well past the swallow but not off putting. This is a powerful but tasty brew.

Pours a lovely rich burgundy-brown. A little like a muddy wine. Very frothy, and foamy off-white head, with a great deal of lacing left behind on the glass sit atop. Citrus, piney, and tropical hop notes form a tremendous aroma. Really enjoying it so far. Sweet, citrus and tropical hops open up, with a bitter, piney hop finish. Very well blended and therefore easy to drink. There is a lingering bitter, hop after taste, which gives me the idea to take another sweet and balanced drink quick. Mouth coating feel, combined with its smoothness, also gives it an easy drinking feel despite the high alcohol content and hoppy taste. Overall, a great beer. Seems well rounded and tasty. On par with other IIPAs I've tried that are considered "world class".

Served in a 12oz snifter.

Think I just got an old bottle. Very malty. Would love to try again if I knew I had it fresh.

The maltiness of this IIPA helps the balance but still all about the hops. This may be the best smelling beer I have tried. 4

A – A beautiful lacing at the end of the glass - 4

S – The aroma on this beer is unbelievable. Like my head was shoved into a bag of hops. 5

T – A very tasty hoppy beer, that gains some balance from a solid malt bill. 4

MF – A medium bodied beer with a dry finish but not a long lasting bitterness or burn. 4

"1000 IPA" is what the label says. I've been told it's the same beer.

This beer is a novelty.

It's bitter. As you could imagine. That's about it. The taste is bitterness, not really anything else.

Overall it's not bad.
