Poured from a bottle (11.2oz) into a snifter. Jet black with a small surface head that dissipated almost immediately.

Whoa. Aroma is surreal. Raw smoked bacon, coffee, salted nuts, and ham. I can tell this is going to be interesting, but I'm up to the challenge.

Incredibly unique, It tastes like it smells. Smoked meat, charcuterie (speck), charred wood, and coffee singing back-up in there somewhere.

As it warms, the front end develops some wine-like tannin flavors that eventually give way to the smoked meat assault. As the warming continues, the hickory and mesquite begin to give way to the coffee as it becomes more predominant on the finish.

This beer is not for everyone, nor would it be an everyday brew. I think it's worth a try and might be better shared with a friend. I could see this pairing well with charcuterie, barbecue, and charred vegetables.

Very dark burgundy with a short mocha head and many flakes of yeast that give it an appearance that resembles fake vomit. Scent of maple, smoke, ash, oats and light coffeel. Taste of sweet maple, smoke, ash, oak and bitter coffee.

Strong charred wood flavor really comes through well in this one. It does sort of remind me of bacon. Lot's of great coffee and chocolate notes as well. Well done.

Tastes like burnt malt. Overwhelms the palate. Not balanced whatsoever. Could use another flavor to cut through the charred flavor... perhaps Maple.

Typically love smoked beer styles. This one reminded me of meat that had been wildly overcharred on the grill. Unappetizing aroma and taste.

Poured into a snifter. Thanks, Alan.

A: A dark black with tan head that lingers. Not much lacing.

S: Lots of burnt espresso and bready malts.

T: Follows nose with a pleasing bite of robust, charred espresso beans. Malts mix in well for a tasty combo.

M: Medium to heavy with medium carbonation.

O: I still prefer the regular Beer Geek Breakfast, but this one was a tasty wake up call. Toasty goodness.
