11.2 oz. bottle Courtesy of SomethingClever, thank you beer Buddha!

This brew pours accordingly to the style, Nice deep black body, khaki head and lacing. Alcohol legs are present. Looks pretty legit. Time to get the fumes. Dense roasted malts and some brown sugar sweetness. Deep inside is notes of vanilla bean, cocoa spice and booze tickles the nose hairs. Smells pretty par to the style. The flavor is just as great and intense. First waves of roasted malt goodness with residual sugars to help accent the roast. Nice chocolate flavors with a subtle vanilla cream flavor, tastes like an Oreo Cookie that was soaked in Rum and Coffee. This finishes dry, boozy with a lingering bitterness. Aftertaste is of Cookies and tobacco. The feel on this brew is full bodied, creamy smooth with soft carbonation.

Overall: I like this better than I thought I was going to. I really thought it was going to be like Vanilla Shake's ultimate end. Yet this is hella enjoyable. The booze is actually a part of the beer to make it balanced. It's not an out of place booze that leaves it too dry with alcohol burn. The bitterness is lingering which I'm ok with, yet one might say it's too abrasive. The rest of the flavors are very enjoyable each with a story to tell. This brew is recommended.

A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 28th August 2024. Poured into a snifter glass.

Appearance: Black in colour with a thin brown head that disappeared almost immediately while leaving no lacing.

Aroma: Light roast, chocolate, coffee, licorice and light herbal.

Taste: Light roast, chocolate, caramel, licorice, light burnt bitterness, and hints of vanilla.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, full bodied with soft carbonation.

Overall: Nice wonderful sipper with good roast, chocolate and vanilla. Sweet with bitter notes on the finish.

Uff, what beer! It can be taken with a spoon, it is very thick. For me, too much, too hard. But we must recognize that it is a fantastic beer, very well made, nothing balanced, forceful, heavy metal!

From the 22 oz bottle and enjoyed in a snifter. This BEAST pours a rich muddled
blackish brown with a nice head of brown foam that subsides to a thick ring, thick layer,
and showcases some spotty lacing. Nose of heavy dark chocolate, dark fruits, light char,
and serious dark malts with hint of coffee and licorice with strong booze. Flavors follow the
nose with heavy dark chocolate akin to syrup that mingles with black licorice and subtle coffee
that have been dunked into a dark plum and ripe sweet cherry flavor awash in strong brandy
like booze. Nice mouth feel for such a strong ale, medium high carbonation, full body, and a
heavy slick malt finish. Overall a SOLID RIS that is not to be taken lightly.

Cheers

330ml bottle poured into a snifter.

It pours an opaque black in color with a hint of very deep brown hue and a half finger of quickly gone tan head that dissipates to some bubble along the rim and leaves slight amount of lacing. Good showcase for such big Stout at 12.12%.

The aroma explodes with rich creamy and dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa, and roasted. Then, quickly come and stay by big spiciness of alcohol along with licorice and dark fruits. Caramel, vanilla, syrup, candy sugar, and dark bread too from its malty goodness.

It is led by sweetness in the flavor but it is not cloyingly sweet. Caramel, vanilla, syrup, candy sugar, and dark bread nicely mingle with bold chocolate, coffee, cocoa, and roasted profile. Big spiciness too from both alcohol and licorice. There is also a hint of dark fruit while the alcohol sweetness and warmth wraps up together with its rich chocolate, coffee, and roasted.

Full and thick body with some sticky touch through the palate, the mouthfeel is smooth with low carbonation but it is enough to handle all the intense characters without being too hefty in the feeling. Finish is very dry when alcohol sweeps through.

Superb Stout, it is big, bold, heavy, and so dam* tasty. There are lots of character playing around in good harmony and delicate intensity. Alcohol is a bit poking to your face but does it really matter and need to care about?

330 ml bottle. Appearance is that of a standard imperial stout - deep midnight black with a thin layer of tan froth with poor retention. The aroma is heavenly -
espresso coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, dried fruits. Taste is just as impressive - rich, dark and expensive chocolate, dried fruits like raisins, prunes and cherries, very muted notes of coffee, and surprisingly a bourbon like booziness even though this is not the bourbon-barrel aged variant. The high alcohol content is kept well under wraps amidst all these flavours and the oily, smooth, chewy and thick mouthfeel. The carbonation is very mild, which tempts one to gulp it all down in a flash!

This is a big beer! Very tasty and thick. Classic stout flavors without going too roasty or too sweet. Pretty much balanced down the middle. Body is amazing.

Poured from a single serve bottle

Appearance--Oh....my.....perhaps the most oily, inky, opaque black stout I have ever seen. Very little head with zero retention, but sticky, sticky, (did I mention sticky) lacing.

Aromas of espresso, chocolate, vanilla, and faint bourbon. Heavily roasted barley notes. Faint barrel and herbal aromas in the background. The aroma is very forward--"in your face" is not an overstatement.

Flavors of bitter chocolate, coffee, anise, and nearly-burnt grain all hit the palate with a bang. The charred grain lends an astringent and acidic note. But it does not overpower, as the candi sugar is just as prevalent. Dangerously, and almost too sweet, and yet, not cloying. Perhaps most remarkable is how well-hidden the 12% ABV is. The booze is there, but it isn't a burn at all. The brew gets progressively sweeter as it warms, and almost becomes too sweet. Perhaps a bit out of balance, but exceedingly complex and inviting.

The mouthfeel is....I'm going to say "controversial." Chewy, bold, thick, and oily-slick. It is on the edge of too heavy. But the booze of the ABV and the astringency and acidity of the char flavor saves the day.

Overall, this is a unique take on the style, and yet typical of Mikkeller. Fans of dry, bitter RIS's are not going to appreciate this one as much as others, as, in true Mikkeller style, the candi sugar is just this side of "heavy handed." Yet the whole thing still "works." A sugary, boozy take on an RIS, but a good one nonetheless.
