Pours a hazy sunburst orange with a tight, white head that leaves good sized chunks of lacing.

Smells of lemon and grassy notes.

Tastes of the hop notes upfront with a solid malt base. The lemon notes are prominent leading way to floral and grass notes. Decently bitter. Malts come in and add a little grainy sweetness along with bread notes. Fairly balanced overall.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is interesting, but not outstanding and definitely not worth the import surcharge.

Against my best instincts, I went ahead and ordered a glass of this at Max's.

The beer pours a copper amber color with fairly good head retention and OK lacing. The nose is just weird, and really not very attactive. I get some light malt, dust, and a hint of dry citrus. On the palate, this is very much a sweet malty IPA, with not nearly enough hoppyh bitterness in the finish to counter it. There's some baked fruit flavors as well from the malt, as well as something of a cardboard flavor. The finish has some bitterness, but it's just not nearly enough to counter the sweet malt and noticeable alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a fairly long, somewhat alcoholic finish.

I'm done with these Mikkeller IPA's, so a couple of thoughts. While certainly not awful, there's really nothing to distinguish them either. Also, while maybe one can discern the differences in aroma and flavor in these different IPA's, my impression is that's rezlly only the case with very fresh beer, using very fresh ingredients. I can't speak for the ingredients, but the beer I had today at Max's really didn't show all that well, and I attribute that to the one or two weeks it's been on tap now. Whatever. All I know is that I won't be buying any more of these overpriced, nor very impressive IPA's from Mikkeller.

Poured a lighter amber with a 1/2 finger white head atop, herbal and grassy aromas with light biscuit dough underneath.Flavors were herbal and medicinal wich I wasnt a fan of,it seemed a bit raw.Not a bad beer but I wasnt a big fan of the medicinal hop flavors.

Cap numbered 8271103! Served from bottle into Stone nonic. Poured yellow-orange with a four finger off-white head that subsided to two fingers slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, earth, subtle fruit, spices, earthy hop, and subtle spicy hop. The flavor was of sweet malt, wheat, grain, earth, and earthy hop. It had a light feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this one wasn't too good, but it always wasn't too bad. The aroma on this one did not prepare me for the earthy assault my tongue was about to take from this brew. Probably the biggest earthy character on the flavor of any of the ones in this series by far. The aroma was not too bad though. Worth trying, but I would leave it at that...

Grabbed two to compare. Starting here with Sorachi Ace.

Not the most impressive thing poured into a glass. Lots of floating sediment which I normally don't mind. This however is a bit much. Otherwise it looks ok. Bright copper (though incredibly cloudy) with a decent foamy white head.

Lemon lime citrusy hops aroma. Pretty enjoyable really. Would seem to suit a nice light APA in small amounts.

Smooth bitterness and hop flavor. Light lime tinge to it. A bit of malt in the background but generally nice and dry.

Yeah, it's an ok IPA. A bit one dimensional but guess that's expected from a single hop beer. I like the hops though, just might be better suited to a different beer. Well done to the brewer(s) for putting it out there.

Hazy light amber, an off-white rather small head, some lacing and some curtains.

Smelling of lemon drops, yellow jelly beans, dill and fudge.

Taste of white bread, toffee, dill, crayfish and nettles.

Medium carbonation, small bubbles, a good body, slightly dry.

Nope, Sorachi Ace is not my favorite hop, and especially not as single hop.

Growler. Served at around 40-45F.

Pours lightly hazy amber with a small off-white head that recedes to a wispy cap, leaving a few spots of lacing behind.

Aroma has some earthy notes, touch of lemon and caramel. Quite muted overall.

Flavor features lemon zest/peel, pine, earth, caramel, wood, some sweetness and decent bitterness on the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, oily, low to moderate carbonation.

OK, but don’t see myself revisiting...

pours semi hazy copper orange with a 2 finger fizzy foamy white head that faded to a small film and left some lacing

smells bready malts and that it - no hops?

taste - again very malty for the style - hops are only present in bittering the brew

mouthfeel - medium body good carbonation

overall - very boring overpriced beer - oh well thanks mikkeller for showing me how useless sorachi ace hops are or you for brewing a beer with them

Parallel with the Willamette.
Loight orange color.
In the smell, some sweet royal jelly, grassy touches. Some butter, and chives notes.
This one covers the maltiness more than the Willamette.
Frankly, not a great taste.
Some harsh hop in the aftertaste.
