This is definitely more of an American Pale than an IPA, but we'll try to refrain from making too many judgments on this front. I'm not sure if the bottle says that it's an IPA, I thought it just said single hop but I could certainly be wrong. It doesn't say anything on the glass when it's on tap. It's just beer. That's weird. Big sexy creamy head atop a somewhat hazy orange pour. Head fades to a small ring with some little dotted stain. I connected the dots and it appears to be Mikkel lying down holding a stein of beer. Not surprised.
Floral and malty aroma, a little bit of the alcohol hanging out. Very nice for a pale, a little weak for an IPA, but overall it's a pleasant aroma. A faded backdrop of pepper.
Slightly sweet, a boozy sting coupled with some pine and flowers. Finishes crisp with the ethanol.
Overall, I find this an excellent pale ale and a pretty good IPA. I know the IBU's are on the low side, but the Tettnang is a beautiful hop and it's showcased very well here dancing alongside the malt and booze. I think it's a well-crafted beer, but I do like IPAs all over the IBU spectrum. Elysian's Immortal is one for example that has only slightly more IBU's than this and it's a personal favorite.
Only the 2nd from the new series that I've tried and it kicked the Centennial's ass, although I fear that bottle was a bit infected.

Single hopped IPA from Mikkeller showcasing the Tettnanger hop, only hopped to 38 IBU for some stupid reason. Making this beer not an IPA at all.

Beer is clear and orange with almost no head, but a few white, small bubbles that leaves some lacing on the glass. Carbonation is low.

Aroma is a little earthy a little citrusy, overall weak, the majority of the aroma is malt and alcohol.

Beer is medium in body and sweet up front with some alcohol and the finish is not very bitter. Very low but at least present, the midpalate of the beer is mildly citrusy, mildly earthy from the hops but I'm searching it out, it is not the dominant force in this beer.

11.2oz bottle tasted alongside Amarillo and Willamette versions.

Pours hazy golden amber with a nice thick beige head that recedes to a thick cap. It's not got the eye-catching look of the Amarillo but it's good looking enough.

Aroma is very tame with only hints of hop aromas and it's mostly lemongrass and faint earthy notes. The biscuity malts are more evident than in the other versions, largely due to the hops being less prominent.

The taste is just a tad better and has a more prominent floral character, maybe some pine but also a bit of actual flowers. The malts are noticeable and the finish is crisp.

The mouthfeel is a tad watery compared to the other two versions, lighter carbonation and body.

This is one of the IPAs in the series that I don't think quite stands up on its own. Not much better than an average IPA for me.
