Heavy, thick creme colored head which is surprising. The beer is a deep caramel with a bready yeast smell. 1000 IBUs is of course not believable, but the IBUs are there and high. Tasting is believing and this is a good solid beer. I think calling it an IPA is a stretch but whatever. It reminds me of 120 minute IPA.

Coming in a slim 330ml brown bottle, BB 12/12/2013, served lightly chilled in a straight pint glass.
A: pours a murky dark amber tea-ish colour, coming with a well-lasting 2cm layer of creamy but “dirty” beige head, on top of rather healthy streams of microscopic fizziness.
S: upfront the aroma is both flowery yeasty and tropical-fruity, but the lemony citrusness also comes in full force; given a good swirl, the edge of lemony-citric and white-grapey aroma intensifies, underlined by just enough pale malts to let the hops shine. Not terribly complex, though, and I wonder what makes this beer stand at 1000 IBU, maybe just an exaggerated expression to highlight the bitterness? Let’s see.
T: wow… the entry of flavours, just half-way landing on my palates, already boasts high-octave, chewy bitterness with rather clean citric hop flavours aside; as the initial impact settles, the lightly biscuity flavour of malts and acidity develop smoothly, but always under the shadow of an intensely bitter palate not just from hop essence but from some earthy and bitter-herbs like resins. The long bitterness down the rear of the tongue reminds me, interestingly, of certain Chinese herbal medicines plus roughly crushed lemon seeds with their mixed tannic and bitter aftertaste…
M&O: the mouthfeel in general is smoothly carbonated and refreshing, and the body retains the medium weight pretty well throughout the drink, while all in all it IS the hop bitterness that dominates the palate from the start through to the end of each sip. I don’t think I’d like to drink this beer every day, though, as really altogether I just find it highly entertaining in an experimental way.

this is easily the most bitter brew ive ever tasted, it almost hurts. the pour is darker amber in color with a few fingers of bubbly tan head that fades fast. some floating sediment in there too. the nose is not at all an indicator of how intense this is, it just sort of smells like a yeasty ipa, pine notes on the hop profile, and some caramel and crystal malt. the flavor though, holy crap. its really bitter ipa, like concentrated lemon and yeast, but you swallow, and its only just getting started. it slowly builds, getting ever more bitter, drying the mouth out like crazy, getting almost hot from the bitter burn, way way more then even the hop burn high. I thought the flavor of this was even more intense than the normal 1000 ibu, which I thought was a perfect specimen. this one isn't as balanced because the malt bill is cut down. you don't need alcohol sting when the bitter stings this bad. its almost pucker its so bitter, and it keeps with you for a long time. honestly needed to eat some chocolate because this was so powerful. good carbonation and just enough body. id imagine it more like 7%, but nope, it is indeed much less. I would never call this a light or an ultra beer, but holy cow, if you like bitter, you cannot miss this!

A - Hazy copper-orange with a finger of frothy slightly off-white head. Fades normal.
S - Grapefruit, orange, citrus, pine, grassy hops, sweet caramel and bready malts.
T - Grapefruit, orange, citrus, pine, grassy hops, resiny bitterness, sweet caramel and bready malts, some candied hops.
M - Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Smooth with a dry, bitter, resiny finish.
D - Really bold and hoppy. A bit resiny, but the boldness of it is nice.

Amber color, three fingers of a thick and fluffy head with good retention leaving traces and an everlasting thin lace, which is unusual for beers with this hop caliber.
Aroma is not aggressive as one would expect. Very resiny but also with notes of tropical fruits.
Very bitter taste but still pleasant, strong grapefruit and resiny. Hints of citrus and you also can still feel its malt despite of the hop predominance.
Aftertaste is utterly hoppy.
Initially thought it would be more of a onetime experience, but it is actually a nice hoppy beer for hop heads like me.
