250ml bottle poured into flute 2/9/12
A shes a pretty dark brew with just a thin dark cola edge, a thumbs width of dark mocha foam quickly falls to a thin film leaving just a few random patches of lace
I noticed some legs coming down the side of the glass, not well defined but there
S boozy coco powder, bakers chocolate, and that lovely coffee shit out by little jungle cats, there's some dark fruits and woody earthy tones but the barrel mark is rather tame on the nose. the booze stings just a little but the other aspects go a long way for this one
T MUCH more barrel in the mouth, the Calvados comes out strong in the mouth and I like it, I swear I can even taste a little apple but it might just be my mind playing tricks. the dark roast is hard too miss, some smokey char I didn't smell and the coffees almost burnt, lots of flavor going on here. If it wasn't for the booze this one would be perfect
M thick for sure but needs just a few more bubbles too give it some life, not as much heat as one would guess but there's a little burn. I might have got a little stuck in my teeth and will surly be tasting this tomorrow
O if you like a big rich, boozy, barreled coffee stout pick one up. pretty solid stuff no matter how you look at it
One of the more expensive brews I've had recently but I had too pick up several of them. I'm not sure how age will treat these bad boys, the great coffee flavors might fade but the unwanted booze should fade as well. I suppose I might need too give a little too take a little, I'll let you know how it works out!!

This already great beer genuinely takes on interesting new qualities from the Calvados barrel. The flat, sharp taste that lays over the beer like a translucent scrim is lovely and though I say 'sharp' it's well woven into the thin--but never syrupy--BGBW coffee taste. Great stuff.
