APPEARANCE - Opaque, cloudy, no head, some lacing, amber.

AROMA/SCENT - Hops, sweet, pine, malts.

TASTE - Hops, bitter, pine, nutty, caramel, brown sugar, bread, toffee

MOUTHFEEL/PALATE/TEXTURE - Thick, no carbonation, smooth, creamy, warming, heavy, syrupy.

VALUE - $7.99 for 12-oz bottle. Good deal for import?

OVERALL/DRINKABILITY - ABV surprisingly well-hidden. I wish there was a bit more carbonation, but what do you expect at ABV 14%?

appearance: hazy apricot. surprisingly full head on the given (given a 14% abv). recedes to wisps. it does look inviting.
smell: wow, this buzzes with tropical fruit. i expected razor sharp hops and a sweetness from the heavy abv but this deep fruit is a welcome surprise.
taste: wow again. the taste delivers too. different than the nose. the booze asserts itself but isn't overpowering. Citrusy hops, a strong malt backbone and to a lesser degree than the nose - fruit.
overall: quite an outstanding beer.

A - Hazy golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head. Fades fairly quickly.

S - Grapefruit, citrus, pine, floral hops, sweet caramel and biscuit malts, some booze.

T - Grapefruit, orange, citrus, pine, and floral hops, resiny bitterness, sweet caramel and biscuit malts, some booze.

M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with dry, bitter, warming and lightly sweet finish.

D - Nice big hoppy DIPA. Good overall balance.

Poured from a 33cL bottle into a brandy snifter. Stamped 310722. From notes. Reviewed 28 November 2012.

A: Virtually no head. Murky brown and opaque, though the edges let through a sickly, yellow glow.

S: Rich, earthy hops. Or old American hops. Dangerously deep, it entices the nose into tumble into what seems like an abyss, but is a short splash away. Some citrus.

T: Mmmm. Uplifting and delicious. Hugely boozy, but this is only apparent after many sips. No element is particularly noticeable (or notable) but the entire production is divine. A perfect blend of neutral-sweet malt and old-bitter hops, both are huge, and neither has the upper hand. Still, the balance is somehow a bit...dull?

M: Thick and rich; pleasant and engaging.

O: A phenomenal DIPA and another great success from Mikkeller. Extreme, but not even obviously so. Drinkable, ensnaring, and recommended.
