Great head! Juicy but way hot for 9%. There’s real depth to the citrus - technically sound. But also not so easy. 3.75

no doubt this bottle has been sitting around awhile, but i have such a fascination with mikkeller beers that i pretty much feel compelled to buy any i see that i have not previously tried, and i was not going to pass this up after how good the stockholm crooked moon beer with the figs was. this is a sturdy double ipa with a pretty substantial grain base, hazy and heady both, quite lively looking. aroma shows some oxidation, some fading citrusy hops, lemon curd, whole grain raw baking flours, and a strang yeast thats almost belgian. the flavor has a better hop character than the nose, with some lemon and pineapple in the finish, but this must have faded a lot from when it was fresh. maybe some nelson or mosaic was featured, it still has that tropical quality. the yeast might just be old, but certainly seems to have some intentional flavor. slight pear esters and a white wine quality, this element is thriving currently. the grain has a staleness, a past its prime vibe, but to see what this beer was fresh is still well within reach here. awesome carbonation, lots of body, some residual bitterness, stinging alcohol, and a beer i hope they brew again. old ipa is never ideal, but with the size of this one and the robust yeast strain, its held up better than i imagine others would...

On-tap served in a stemmed glass at Mikkeller Bangkok.

Hazy amber orange in color, it comes with a finger of frothy off-white head that stays for some time before sinking to some bubble sheet atop and leaving lots of sticky lacing patch and spot here and there.

Lots of pine in the aroma, it is also with notes of resin, grapefruit, lime, peach, melon, and some tropical fruit. Hop still imparts its spice, some earthy and grassy somewhere in the midst of the aroma. Malt is quite solid providing its biscuit, bread, and sweet caramel to counterbalance.

It is quite hoppy in the palate sensation. Led by a rich piney resin then all the other hop flavors persistently parade to soak the taste buds, it is melon, peach, tropical, some spice, earthy, grassy, and solid bitterness at time. Malt still remains strong here as the flavor base with its slight sweet, bread, biscuit, and caramel. The end is wrapped up by rich hop bitterness that is as well long-lasting in the aftertaste.

Rather full body with good crisp and moderate lively carbonation to carry all the things well under the smooth palate, quite refreshing, finish is very pleasantly dry.

Tasty DIPA that is not overly fruity or juicy but tends to be much on piney resin together with rich malt bill to keep everything in shape. Alcohol is also well hidden though.

After all the hazy juice bomb IPAs I've been having lately, this was the perfect change of pace since this has more emphasis on pine, grass and malt notes. It has a near-perfect balance of bitterness, sweetness and resinous hop character. Also, the ABV is marvelously hidden.

Pours a cloudy beautiful appearance with a bunch of visible sediment floating freely.

Smells of tropical fruit, tangerine, ale yeast, and a array of sharp sweet notes.

Taste is similar but with a slightly more emphasized hop bitterness. A bitterness which complements the fruit sweetness beautifully. The only drawback is the carbonation which is to heavy for my liking. However, as the beer sits, this becomes less of a problem. Otherwise the body is light and enjoyable.

Another great Mikkeller brew.

Dark golden colour, medium head with normal retention and great lacing. Aroma of banana, apricots, oranges, tropical fruits, caramel, resines. Medium body, good carbonation. Taste of apricots, oranges, resines, caramel. I think I fell some tobacco notes. Good.

Pours a clear, dark brown color. 3/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of roasted malt, piney hops, alcohol, sweet malt, hint of chocolate, and slight wood. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Fits the style of a Witbier. Tastes of roasted malt, sweet malt, hint of coffee, wood, piney hops, slight alcohol, and a hint of dark citrus. Overall, great appearance, good aroma, body, blend, and complexity.
