we drank all the spontan beers we have been saving in one night, kicked off by this rarity, purchased from the mikkeller website for a semi-reasonable price. i have to say, of all the beers we had, this was the most disappointing one in the series (not even really part of the spontan series i dont think). it pours almost totally flat, murky orange color, no head, some yeast sediment too. smells fine, like quick sour beer, not like mature lambic. highly acidic and mouthwatering, but no real nuance to it. overly wheaty in the base, without a ton of depth to it, and the acid just takes over. first sip is a little less sour than it smells, but it increases with temperature. subtle notes of white wine, very little wood to it, and a hint of cheesy funk, but less wildness than anticipated, and certainly less than the rest of the series. drinkable enough, but it being totally still kills it for me. i know thats how a lot of traditional unblended lambics are, but its a turn off. glad we cracked into this one, and ventured to procure it, but it was arguably my least favorite in the whole lineup. maybe its aged poorly?
