On-tap served in a stemmed glass at Mikkeller Bangkok.

Deep purple in color, it comes with a finger of violet pinkish head that retains itself for a while before sinking to some bubble sheet atop and leaving small lacing behind. There is some soapy effervescence risen when swirled.

In a nose, red and black cherry, raspberry, green apple, grape, red wine, fruity candy, oaky, funk, and earthy.

The taste is still very cherry. It is also with notes of oaky, tannin, raspberry, grape, red wine, juicy, musty, funk, earthy, grassy, and spice.

Medium body with some crisp and moderate carbonation that carries well the palate under quite smooth mouthfeel, finish is very dry. Juicy and tasty cherry Lambic, so refreshing.

Deep red, almost purple, with a matching colored head. Aroma of lightly tart cherries. Taste is tart cherry juice and some dark fruit. Can also taste some must and a hint of barnyard funk.

Dark red pour to Duvel glass with deep pink head. Nose full of cherry like Mom's cherry pie. Taste is huge cherry and mildly sour, like eating cherry pie filling but without all the sugar. Some sweetness present and adds some body. Tastes so real, so good. Moderate carbonation. An amazing representation of the fruit.

Poured into a nonic glass on Letraria.

A: The body is mildly crystalline having a very vivid red coloration. The head, one finger thick, is pink and shows some good retention and lacing.
S: The aroma has a very prominent vinegar like touch; only in the back of it you can feel the cherries.
T: Not following the aroma, the taste is much different, having a much more mildness in terms of sourness and tart. The beginning is a bit sweet coming in from the cherries but then you can also taste them again ou the sour part that connects very mellow-y with the brettonamyces present here.
M: The body is medium. Carbonation is medium, being just a little bit harsh. Sourness is mild, but being able to totally dry your mouth after the sip. Alcohol is unnoticed.
O: This is my first Spontan series from Mikkeller and I'm amazed at this, specially for its mellow-y touch on sourness. Very good beer in general.

Pours a deep red, smells of cherry candy. Taste is all cherries, very cough syrupy. Not horrific, but a pretty bad use of cherries overall. Somewhat tart, but mildly. Doesnt blend well at all with the thick syrupy cherry body

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 1/21/2026. Pours hazy very dark ruby red/purple color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy dark pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge sweet/sour red/black cherries, cranberry, raspberry, lemon, green apple, currant, red grape, almond, vanilla, oak, pepper, light red wine vinegar/funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity and balance of cherries, fruity/acidic yeast, and oak barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge sweet/sour red/black cherries, cranberry, raspberry, lemon, green apple, currant, red grape, almond, vanilla, oak, pepper, light red wine vinegar/funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/acidic tartness and yeast/tannic oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of red/black cherries, cranberry, raspberry, lemon, green apple, currant, red grape, almond, vanilla, oak, pepper, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/acidic yeast, and oak barrel flavors; with an awesome sweet/tartness balance; and zero astringent/puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from acidity/tannins, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/acidic/tannic, and slightly slick/syrupy balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is fairly well hidden, a mild warmth lingers after the finish. Overall this is an incredible kriek lambic! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/acidic yeast, and oak barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modest acidity. There has to be an insane amount of cherries in this beer, just based on the color. A really amazing offering all around.

375ml bottle, @7.2% ABV - very old-world looking label (and I can read the name of the beer - what a concept!).

This beer pours a clear (I think) very dark purple colour, with three fat fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy magenta head, which leaves a few instances of sprouting sapling lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of musty cherries (flesh, pit, and stems), red balsamic vinegar, some vanilla-heavy oakiness, a touch of earthy funk, and an indistinct floral bitterness. The taste is tart cherry juice that has been sitting out too long, musty barrel staves (wet wood, vanilla, and a touch of yeastiness), subtle farm-friendly funk, some cooking vinegar acidity, and more plain and hard to isolate earthy and slightly floral green bitters.

The carbonation is fairly benign in its placid frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and sort of smooth, as the tartness is more or less subsumed by the jammy cherry fruitiness, in a manner of speaking. It finishes trending dry, the cherries holding fast, and the general woody notes lingering like they don't have anything better going on.

Overall, this is a genial and relatively easy-drinking fruit Lambic, as the cherry character keeps the funk, sour, and tart essences from asserting any kind of control, which this sports fan appreciates. Add in the virtually undetectable north of 7 points of booze, and we have a very well made brew.

Pours a red colour with a medium pink head that fades leaving a pink lace. Aroma of cherries with their stalk, with notes of vinegar and wood.Meium body, thick and sticky palate, lively carbonation. Taste of cherries, with the salk, wood. There's some acidity but then sweetnes ome in to the front. Good one.

2015 bottle with an ABV of 7.2%. Pretty amazing appearance with a deep and dark red body and a vibrant pinkish purple head. Smell is quite enticing as well, like a bowl of pure fleshy dark cherries, not even a real sourness here, just unadulterated cherry yogurt goodness. The taste however brings the sourness (albeit still kinda on the lighter end), lots of oak and tannins, and a kind of earthy dirty funk and red wine feel. Still big-time cherry here but with much more of a stemmy/pit feel going on and less potency than the scent, kinda gets taken over by the tannins a bit. Mouthfeel carries some heft and a bit of warming alcohol, pretty sharp and dry with a mix of sour+sweet cherry flavors, bit of a weak finish but smooth and well-carbonated overall. This was pretty great, the frederiksdal cherries per usual come through with distinct excellence, but in the taste the oak/tannins/wine vibe felt a bit too overpowering as did the ABV a little bit. Would be nice to see a bit more balance there but really quite a nice winy dark cherry sour.
