We stopped in here for lunch to check out the newest beer bar in the area. Parking was conveniently located behind the small group of shops this was on the corner of but I can see it getting full on a crowded night. The place had nice high ceilings and a really open feel. There was a good sized dining area to the left and the bar to the right. There was a small area in front of a fireplace by the bar that had a few sofas. We pulled up to the bar which had very comfortable leather barstool with great back support that I could have sat in for hours. The booths around the bar area where raised up so you were eye level with the wait staff and steel bar foot rests which was a nice change from the usual. The lights over the bar were made from bottles with the bottoms cut out and hung with a light in them. Also there were mosaics of bottles, silverware and plates on the wall to the left. It was a relaxing enough atmosphere overall.
We both went with pizzas, the Shrimp pizza I had was great as was the Mushroom pizza I had a slice of. No problems at all with the food. The bartender was quick with refills and taking our order and pretty friendly. A few of the other people at the bar were not too familiar with the beer so he described them accurately, made suggestions and let them sample a few till he found something that would work for them. I thought that was great and with service like that they should get plenty of regulars and turn people to craft beer.
There website pretty much seems up to date with all of the 30 or so beers on tap. The selection was pretty nice and had a good variety of stuff on. Everyone should be able to find something to their liking. They also had a good amount of local stuff on with 2 from Clipper City, 2 Old Dominion and a District Chophouse beer. While the variety was good they perhaps could have been a little more adventurous with some of their selections but maybe that will come in the future. Hopefully they will also rotate some of the stuff on tap because it looks pretty similar even after 3 months. The bottled selection was great and pretty extensive with more adventurous selections than the draft list. They had 4 coolers at the bar then around the corner to the right there were a bunch more keeping all the bottles cool. No real complaints about this place they seem to have there stuff together and I wouldnt hesitate to stop by for a pint if I was in the area.

OK, its my neighborhood drinking establishment and I love the idea that in five minutes I can be drinking a beer that I've never heard of before.
Happy hour is a good deal - $2 off drafts 4-7 p.m. everyday.

I met up with a current BA recently, and their beer selection and quality had improved drastically since the previous visit. Atmosphere is good and service is god.

I've stopped by Rustico numerous times and always enjoy the beer and food. On my last visit they had De Ranke XX ($8), Blvd Saisonbrett ($7), Jade IPA ($5), Spacewalker ($4) and several others. Not bad for a draft list.
One of our beers came out with a bit of foreign material floating in it (probably something from the beer line that dislodged) and our waitress exchanged it immediately. I wouldn't ding Rustico just because it does happen occasionally. We also were brought a beer that we didn't order and were told to keep it on the house.
Food is above average and include pizzas, hummus and other better bar food.

I used to live around the corner from this place...I wish I still did, it is probably the best bar I've ever visited.
The food is unique, eclectic, and always tasty...just understand that you may see some stuff font he menu that will be a surprise, like Pizza Duck Confit. But, don't let that dissuade you, the food is always good, and well prepared. When busy, the presentation can suffer, and sometimes the food quality (which still remains exceptional) is not as good as when not busy. Favorite time to visit the place was late afternoon, right at the beginning of happy hour or early Sunday afternoon.
Service never suffers, but the busier it gets, the longer it will take to get a refill, but planning ahead, and you'll never see the bottom of the glass.
Selection. Nearly 40 taps, casked ales, and hundreds of bottle varietals. You will find something you like there...from PBR all the way to a $40 a bottle rarity. They have it, if they don't they either sold it out, or it is not at the distributor.
Easily a go to...like I said, wish I still lived around the corner.
