I grabbed a couple growlers for the road from H&H before we left. One of the IPA and one of the Red. The IPA pours pours a pale, clear, slightly orange gold with a soapy egg shell white wheat. Some sparse, spotty lace sticks randomly around the glass.

Lots of hops and citrus dominate the aroma of this brew. Piny and bitter with a strong malt backbone. The nose really blooms as the beer warms a bit. Bright and clean with some spice and slight caramel breadiness very nice. Lots of subtle, pleasurable notes. A very nice characteristic English-style IPA as far as smell is concerned.

Mellow and a bit maltier than the nose implies, clean but dense. The piny hops and citrus (orange/grapefruit) really come out in the finish and linger pretty well. Very bitter with just a slight bit of warmth. Some breadiness with a buttery component. Floral hops with a semidry finish. Well balanced and really nicely done. Probably my favorite H&H selection that I've had.

Bright, crisp and clean with a moderate body and texture. The hoppy bitterness lingers very well and leaves a semidry finish. I appreciate that the bitterness isn't padded with too much sweet malt. After trying a bunch of H&H brews I noticed that a great many of them were too sweet and conservative in flavor for my liking. English styles are often guilty of this but I liked this IPA a lot. As I said, the best brew they offer (of the ten or so I've tried) in my opinion.

on-tap -> pint

Pours a lightly amber infuzed orange with a nice creamy head. Lots of lace coats the glass. Carbonation appears tame.

Nose. Hoppy nose a little pale malts linger shyly in the background.

Fruity hops up front. Malty goodness in the middle and bitter on the finish. A well put together IPA. Thick malt presence dominates the middle of the brew until tamed by the on slightly lingering bitterness.

This beer sure smells like an American IPA, but it drinks as advertised as an English IPA.

Served in a pub glass,A dark golden to light coppery color,looked tempting.The head was off white,creamy about a 1/2 thick.The beer was clear with a nice lacing of the glass.
The smell was citrusy,piney,sweet caramelly,a hint of grapefuit,nice and complex.
The beer had a dry,sharp,clean and refreshing finish,well balanced,very tasty and highly drinkable. Another great beer from H&H.
