Got this in a mixed 6-pack from Brennan's in Oconomowoc.

A - Dark yellowish, slightly brown. Almost no head.

S - Slight fruity smell mixed with a bit of a cream smell

T - Tastes slightly fruity as well. First few drinks I really didn't like this beer, but it's starting to grow on me as I work my way through the bottle.

M - Average, bubbley

D -- I probably won't be having any more of these, but it was worth a try.

Purchased a bottle of this from Brennan's on the west side of Madison, and poured into a Sam Adams' lager glass. The head was minimal, but present; the color was a slight greenish yellow.

St. Croix describes their offering as: St. Croix Cream Ale is golden ale made with three barley malts which produce a creamy but light mouthfeel.

The aroma as a bit fruity, as was the taste--slight cream taste, along with citrus flavors--lemon and grapefruit? I was able to drink one with ease and imagine that I could drink a 6-pack on a hot summer day.

We've seen this label around but never got around to trying some until the guy who runs the place (and is the brewer as well) was at our local bottle shop pouring samples. The beer is a slightly cloudy pale gold with moderate carbonation, helped along by being in a SA perfect pint. Aroma is malt and bread, rather like a home- brew. Taste is mild and smooth, as the brewer said he's generous with the oats. Nice clean taste, nothing too wrong. A good contrast with the New Glarus Spotted Cow. A rare style, nicely done.

a very well made beer, both more flavorful and more substantial in texture than we have been taught to expect in the style. i like it being a little old worldy and rustic, the malt profile here is nice, lightly bready, organic, fresh, dry, and crackery. its a perfect base for the yeast flavor in here, which actually tastes and feels more to me like a lager strain than an ale, drying, european in nature, and sort of frothy and still lively and active, crisp and snappy in feel. not much going on with the hops, its simple beer, but a well crafted recipe strictly adhered to, and there is something to be said for that in this day and age. for those beer geeks who would remark that this fine cream ale "just tastes like a beer", i would respond that its supposed to, and that this is entirely without flaws, off flavors, or freshness issues, and that it stands as an excellent example of patient cooler ale fermentation. awesome carbonation, and flavorful through its dry finish. both this and the cream stout from these guys were very good, i hope they find some success with these beers! very well made.
