Old harbor brewery

Cerveza taina weizenbock

A: hazy malty brown w/ creamy light tan head.

A: sweet bready malt, banana, sweet fruity esthers, raisins, grapes, no hop aroma.

F: bananas and tropical fruits, combined with bready malt character, finishes with a nice bitter hop finish. Balance is perfect between the banana and malt. Like liquid banana bread.

M: light medium across the board. (carbonation, mouthfeel, body), no warmth.

O: this is tasty and great to style. I am kicking my own butt right now. Should have been drinking this all week.

The brewmaster bottled this for my girlfriend as a favor and she brought it to me from Puerto Rico.

A - Pours a very dark brown, dark for a vienna, that shines through lighter and is clear but you can't see through it. Minimal head that dissipated to nothing.

S - Sweet dark fruits including a dose of figs and rasins. Brown sugar and some nice caramel malts.

T - Not what I was expecting, this tastes much more like a quad, or mini-quad at least, than a vienna. It's based on a recipe from the 1800's and is the only organic beer from Puerto Rico. Figs, brown sugar, and some raisins. Lots of caramel malts, a little alcohol burn and this could potentially be rochefort. Very good, deep flavors.

M - Not a ton of carbonation, medium bodied, but tastes a little watery like most organics.

D - Goes down easy, thought it was hard at first given the ABV, but after finishing the bomber realized I wasn't even fazed and could do another.

Had this beer while on vacation in Puerto Rico. Honestly I loved this beer! What a great beer. Pours dark and cloudy with good lacing and a decent head. Has a very sweet smell and tastes to me exactly like a beer of this style should. Slightly sweet and very crisp/clean. If possible have this beer fresh on tap, there was a big difference in the beer that I drank there and what I brought home in a bottle. I would definitely keep this in my fridge if it was available in the states.

A: single finger head on a murky copper and brown body. Excellent lacing.

S: caramel malts, breads, nuts, pineapple and banana citrus. Spivey notes.

T: This one is pretty spicy. Subtle fruit and brown sugar notes throughout. Carmalized malts.

M: medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: one of the better brews in enjoyed here.
