Funny thing about beer and time, that whole meshing thing. See, I had Steve's bachelor party in Atlantic City on Saturday night, so I rolled into AC on Saturday late afternoon knowing that I'd need to have a beer at Tun Tavern, just one beer, one singular beer, just to get a peak at the place, see what they had going on. I had drank their IPA at this years' NJ Craft Brewers Festival at Waterloo Village and last year they brought that killer stout so I know the beer's all good. Yeah, so I rolled in for a beer, just one beer, one singular beer and here's that whole beer and time thing 'cause now it's dark out and my phone's ringing and they want to know if I'm in AC yet, and I'm thinkin' that my 4th beer should be the IPA but I'll make it quick. Early evening stealer, this "beer" as you call it, is...
It ain't a tavern. It ain't even remotely tavernish. It's a large off-triangular restaurant with a rectangular bar in the center at one end. They had 9 house beers and are sadly insulting their brewmaster by also pouring Heinekin, Bud & Coors Light. I started with the Leatherneck Stout (roasty, hoppy, chewy), moved to the Rock 'N Roggen (a pleasantly spicy, malty rye beer), then the Tunwit (an unfilitered Wit, nicely Corriander & Orange Peel), and then my "I gotta go" beer, the All American IPA (solid, hoppy, floral).
The beers are good, man. I tried to tell you. Service was not so good. I was all invisiblelike or something. What the hell? Interesting place. You can see the Fermenters up above on the second floor and there's a windowed perch where people are looking down at you from way up high, believed to be from the adjoining Sheraton Hotel. Curious. Certainly THE place to go have a few beers if you're in AC.

Criminally over-priced crab cheese fries - literally at most 2/3 a tablespoon of stringy flecks of crustacean hidden below a pile of half-soggy, old bay fries smothered in cheez whiz - all for $12... yes, I paid $12 for what was essentially cheese fries..

Had an imperial stout with the fries - serviceable, like the Scotch ale I had months ago with a (I guess, characteristically) fish-skimpy bowl of seafood chowder... any time I've had a beer here, it's serviceable - brewed to style, if little else

I've been to this joint a handful of times over the past few years while waiting for my train to depart - the station is pretty much across the street. Spacious meeting hall atmosphere. The brews seem to be an aside, a by-the-way to what is essentially a cavernous sports bar. I will second that this place is usually mostly empty whenever I've been there, though I could imagine it being a deafeningly-cacophonous cattle smoosh.

After some sub-par, overpriced fare each of the last few times I've visited, I think this last occasion will be the final. Should've got a vending machine candy bar at the station and patiently waited.

This is a sad, mostly empty cavernous bar that reminds me of the city it lives in- a reminder of better times. Well-decorated and shiny but dead in spirit.

Beer is not good. I can hear servers audibly complaining about each other. Bar is empty after work hours. I could imagine people came here once upon a time but I'm not sure there's any draw anymore

I am editing (inital review 11/08/2014) my review on this bar after having a second visit (02/04/2017) a little over two years later. I was in town for an event with my girlfriend and I was so excited to visit this place as I am a Marine myself and I remembered how good the food and beers were when I first visited before. I was excitedly telling everyone to come check this place out. Well needless to say I was very disappointed as everyone else was. The service was horrible, the beer was down right and I couldn't even stomach the ones that I took home in growlers in my previous visit. The only saving grace was the food as it was better than before. There was no variety to choose from other than the normal ones and the beer tasted as it was just thrown together to obtain the quantity needed and not the quality. I was a believer in the phrase "There is no such thing as a bad beer, only beer that doesn't excite your palate" but in this case this was some horrible beer and even worse service.

I saw the luke-warm reviews here but my wife and I were across the street at the AC Convention Center and I figured why not give them a shot for lunch. I'm the kind of guy who chooses a restaurant on their beer selection first, food second.

We sat at the bar and had a very nice bartender. The beer selection was ordinary. The obligatory "light" beer for the Coors crowd, a pale ale, Irish red (I guess a Killian clone), stout, a weiss, an IPA and two special brews. One a wee heavy, and a "Belgian strong".

Being a hop lover I opted for the IPA. Decent but nothing to write home about. Sufficiently bitter but lacked (at least to my liking) enough finishing hops to satisfy me. My wife who doesn't share my affinity for hops liked the wee heavy. I thought it was true to it's style. She liked the stout although I felt it was a bit thin. The Belgian strong was I suppose a dubbel. Dark, strong and probably one of their better attempts.

Food is pub fare. I won't say it sucked, but pretty close. At least what we had. I had a buffalo chicken salad for $15. It came drenched, I mean dripping in bleu cheese dressing. The chicken was pretty tasty but that much bleu cheese ruined it for me. The wife had a turkey burger she described as mediocre.

I wouldn't recommend this place although the ambiance was rather nice. If you want good beer you'll go elsewhere.

A- visit on a Saturday night, Not to crowed. Sat at the bar not very well lighted. The had a guitar player singing.

Q- Was good

S- Service was very good.

S- Selection was about 8 or 9 of Tun Tavern brew beer and 2 major brands for those who go to a Brew pub to drink other beer rather than brew pub's beer

F- Food was ok we just order wings and they can out luke warm, over bread , and drench in hot sauce. Had better during another visit.

V- Value is reasonable

Went here for my buddies bachelor party and my father told me that he and I have been there before but I never really remembered it.

We went there on a Saturday evening so the place was totally packed. Had live entertainment which was nice to listen to. The beer sampler was pretty good I really enjoyed the IPA.

I ordered the chicken tenders and they just give you 5 tenders w no fries for 9 bucks. The one guy got a philly cheese and it was loaded up. So just guessing what you order varies portion size.

Overall it was a really cool place and would like to go back on a week day and see if I would enjoy it with less of a crowd.

I almost skipped this place during my trip to ac due to some of the reviews i read on here. Sure glad I took the chance. first off a convention was in town and the place was absolutely packed, but we were seated within minutes. They even made a spot for our stroller to fit by the table. All the workers we came in contact with were very friendly, I ordered the all american ipa it was served quickly and ice cold. One of the most enjoyable brews ive had in a long while. The food was phenomenal ,we got some burgers they were served quickly, perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. worth every penny, and reasonably priced for atlantic city. got a growler of the ipa to take back to the room with us and enjoyed it in the jacuzzi. i got two brews, two pint glasses to take home ,two awesome burgers, a growler full of ipa and it cost me less than 60 bucks.

A bit out of the way, but a nice little walk from the boardwalk. Very clean and spacious inside and out. I was noticing all the military stuff and came to find out the the owner with in the service and did this after the fact. I really enjoyed the decor, especially the tanks above the bar. The bartender was very friendly, attentive, and knew her stuff. Had spinach and crab dip, a bit rich and filling, but really nice. The food all looked good, but a bit pricy, whereas the beer was decently priced. A cool place, and quite enjoyable.

As the only brewery/brewpub in the area for many miles, it would be nice if the Tun Tavern stepped up their game, but they seem pretty complacent. Atmosphere is pretty general and sportsbar-ish. They have a decent sized bar and a good amount of tables. The bartenders were friendly though maybe a bit distant. Their beer is all house-brewed, with a general spread of different styles. The beers are decent, but none are really distinctive or great. The food is decent...standard comfort foods mostly. Prices are a bit steep for what you get. You might be better off going to the casino for free drinks, and at least a chance to get your money back.

Save your receipt for free parking in the adjacent lot.
