11/11/17...pours a copper malt color, with heavy white foam. More clear than not. Malty nose. Some caramels. Light sweet taste, caramel filled flavor. Smooth, low carbonation. Like a bock. Tasty. Tough to nail a Cali common, this is pretty good.

I tried this at ABC a couple days ago, served on tap in a pils glass.

The color is medium amber like maple syrup with good clairty and thin tan head with fine bead and visible carbonation. The smell is very malty with a bready yeast scent. The feel is medium bodied with mostly malt focus and semi-dry with light caramel sweetness and medium carbonation level.

The taste is good with a nice amount of malt body and generally low bitterness with slight yeast flavor which enhances the toast quality of the malt. Overall more or less a decent example of the style yet balance is toward the malt side

Pours a clear amber color with about one finger of foamy white head with good retention.

The scent is of caramel malt, some notes of sweet fruit.

The taste is of toasted caramel malt, some lightly bitter herbal hops, some notes of apple are apparent also.

Light body, smooth and crisp feel, moderate carbonation.

This was a really good presentation of the style, I would definitely go for this again if brought back.

A growler filled and consumed on the same day.

A: The beer is darker copper color, let's call it a penny with a few years under its belt. The dark hue does not disguise the translucent brilliance of the beer. A finger of foamy head on pour has retained its size and looks to be lacing nicely.

S: The ale has a fruity, apple aroma with caramel touches, crisp with an underlying hoppiness that lightly bites.

T: Caramel malts start off the sip, sweet but fleeting. They are quickly shooed aside by a fruity tartness and biting hops. The hops are herbal, grassy with a great feel that lingers long on the tongue. Alefruits pop up throughout the glass, adding a sweet flavor that pairs with the hoppy bitterness. The malty caramel flavors do appear throughout but are most noticeable up front and on the back end.

M: The mouthfeel is crisp and very lively. The grassy hops leave a distinct bitterness in the palate that lasts long after the sip is gone.

D: ABC has slowly begun to branch out stylistically and this is a nice step on that path. The ale is biting and delicious, drastically reducing the growler's chance of making it through to tomorrow.

On tap downstairs at ABC Harrisburg on 2/7/08.

A - Clear orangey bronze, almost caramel colored body with 1/2-finger off-white head and very modest carbonation. Head virtually disappeared, but left some nice sticky lacing around the top of the glass.

S - Very sweet caramel malt aroma up front with a healthy dose of flowery hops and some grassy notes as well. There's also a spicy fruity aspect that comes through behind the sweetness.

T - Many of the aromas come out in the taste, especially the spicy fruit aspect, with somewhat of an apple flavor. Finish is moderately hoppy, and the grassy bitterness stands out. The spicy and hoppy qualities are all balanced by an ever-present sweet malt flavor.

M - Medium body with a light syrupy texture. Certainly not as watery as some of ABC's other beers. Fair amount of prickle on the tongue. Finish is quite bitter.

D - Quite a lot of flavor in this one. Hoppier than I was expecting. Mouthfeel is nice for an ABC beer. Overall, it's a pretty solid beer and a welcome addition to their list of rotating releases.
