look: 4.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

A monster foamy, billowy, and creamy head with fabulous retention; furthermore, the head did leave lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is a medium pale yellow color and has a slightly hazy clarity. The beer does present with some carbonation.
A typical light hop aroma citrus, herbal, pine and some grassy notes. Crackers, toasted malts, yeast, floral, and some tropical notes.
A pleasant pine resin, herbal, floral with some citrus grass, and touch of crackers.
Medium carbonation, light body, light plus astringency, and medium finish.
A decent IPA, especially for being a session IPA.

Poured from can into Spiegelau IPA glass.

Nice yellow color with a high head, and lots of bubbles.

The smell is citrusy, with a bit of pineapple thrown in.

Taste is also very citrusy, loads of grapefruit and lemon peel, balanced by a nice bitterness.

Light bodied, and very crisp, I can see this working well on a hot Californa evening.

Overall, a really nice session IPA, one of the better I've had.

Poured from a tallboy can into a Dogfish Head tulip. Thanks to DEK196 for the sample!

L: Cloudy medium to light golden pour... two fingers of foamy white head leave great lacing.

S: Citrus dominates... grapefruit and lime. A touch of pine.

T/F: Light malty/grainy backbone with a robust hop profile. Follows the smell with a strong citrus blend.. definite grapefruit, with some lemongrass and a bit of spice. A bit sticky on the tongue. Light in body... expected for the low ABV. Finish is crisp.

O: A very drinkable and tasty session IPA. Another quality West Coaster. I think Swami would be more of a go-to, but this is very light and refreshing and has great flavor.

Thanks to Cherche for this one. Canned on 4/28/16. Poured into 10oz goblet. Poured a nearly opaque straw gold color with about 1/4 inch of white head that had low retention and lacing.

Aroma was a mellow blend of grain and soft citrus hops. Taste was pretty similar, just a bit more sharp, with a mildly unpleasant tang at the finish. Body was medium, and crisp. Drinkability was decent, certainly no struggle to finish. Overall, this beer didn't really push my buttons. But, you may enjoy it.

Hazy straw color with white head. Aroma has nice floral and citrusy hop notes with some nice green tea. Taste follows, fresh, citrusy, green ice tea, medium bitterness on the finish. Light body with medium effervescence. Really fresh and easy to drink, a true session IPA.

Shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice crystal clear golden hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light wisps.

S - Aromas of malts, nice grapefruit citrus, light dank hops. Pleasant.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, nice citrus levels, good grapefruit peel. Good light bitterness, really refreshing.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, bright, clean.

O - Overall this was a solid ipa, really nice light bitterness with good light malt. Quite pleasant.

Thanks to rudzud

Big foamy fizzy head fades at a med pace, decent lacing, semi hazy lemonade yellow color.

Nose musty hops, little tropical fruit citrus, musty earthy dank, floral grassy, citrusy rind.

Taste brings tropical dank hops, little passion fruit papaya, touch of pineapple pine sap like spicy hop, nice musty grassy almost herbal, touch malt background. Dry fair bitter finish, lingering mild musty dank citrus fruit hops.

Mouth is med bod, decent but lighter carb.

Overall pretty nice, not great but a nice big hop flavor for light sessionable beer.

First of all, love the 16 oz x 6 pack format. ALL session beers should be as such! Nice clear, clean yellow beer, smooth feel with great tropical aromas and flavors. An outstanding session. Cheers!

Tried the Ponto at Old Town Pizza in Roseville, CA. It poured a slightly hazy yellow with white head and left a lace. The scent and taste were bolstered by a grapefruit citrus base. The finish was clean. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with nice carbonation. Overall it was a solid session ipa.

This pours a clear golden straw. There's a light mango and melon aroma. It's mildly hoppy with the mango notes and a clean finish. Not much malt to distract from the hops. As a pale ale it fails but as a session IPA it works just fine.

Can poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours slightly hazy golden straw with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves some nice lacing.

S: Pine, bright citrus, subtle dank herbal notes, and a little light malt.

T: Resinous pine, citrus, lemon, lime, grapefruit zest, faint tropical notes, light earthy herbal notes, and a little light malt.

M: Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Would make a great beach beer. The packed a ton of hop flavor into a session IPA.

Can dated 10/01/15 into a tulip glass. The color was faint yellow and not overly appealing, with 1 inch head that left nice lacing. The highlight of the beer for me was the nose. Didn't feel the taste did the nose justice. Finished a bit thin and dry. The session IPA is more my wife's style than mine, so I'm hoping she likes it and finishes the rest of the sixer as I prefer some other sessions to this if that's what I'm in the mood for at the time.

A: Very light yellow, clean and clear. good white head 2 fingers.
S:Very floral. citrus forward. grassy finish. More aroma than expected
T:Light. Crisp. Grassy bitterness with come lemon peel. Definite grapefruit.
F: Tons of carbonation. Very crisp bite, clean. leaves a bitterness on the whole tounge.
O: I make sure to rate each beer for what it is. For a session it is pretty tasty. Very easy to drink. It could be balanced better though. Would recommend for summertime or out on the golf course.

Canned: 02/03/15

Appearance: pale, golden, yellow in color. Just a little bit of foam skimming the surface of the beer.

Smell: very fragrant and floral, not in your face. Smell mostly of pine with some citrus rind.

Taste: starts out bready, then it becomes hoppy and bitter. Dry throughout, with minimal malt backbone. What I love about this beer is the aggressive hop profile. For a 4.5% ABV session IPA, its outstanding! It doesn't compare to the standard IPA, but its beyond my expectations of session beers.

Mouthfeel: light-bodied and smooth. Perfect for a warm sunny day (or any other day)!

Overall: this heightened my camping experience out in California. It was only ten dollars for 16-oz. six pack and very tasty. I'm just hoping more and more breweries will start canning in 16 oz. rather than 12 oz. I hope to pick this up again when I'm visit the state.

Ratings are correct below, but I changed some marks above to make the final rating as correct as possible with Beer Advocate's "revamped" system. The 3.65 overall rating is correct.

Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Lagunitas mason jar
From: Trader Joe’s in Mission Valley (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $1.50
Purchased: March 1, 2015
Consumed: March 1, 2015
Misc.: Canned on Jan. 9, 2015 at 11:25 a.m.

Poured a golden, pale, clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy, white head. Lots of slow-moving bubble streams coming up from the bottom. Above average, uneven, foamy lacing. Average retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Pleasant odors of sharp grapefruit, Citra, floral, Mosaic, Amarillo, tropical, tangerine and light pineapple. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted a lot less flavorful than the nose. Definitely could tell it was a SIPA right away. Got Citra, Mosaic, tropical, vegetables, onion, light mango, faint grapefruit pulp and some watery pineapple. (Taste - 3.50)

Light body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, watery, slightly bitter finish. (Feel - 3.25)

Not a fan of this one. This ranks at the bottom of the all the session IPA’s I’ve had (off the top of my head Day Time, Easy Jack, Go-To, All-Day, etc.). (Overall - 3.50)

Pretty light golden brew, slightly hazy, topped by a nice snow white head. Good retention, and very nice lacing.

Great, eclectic hop aroma: citrus and tropical fruit; rind and pith; slight herbal and floral undertones. Slight pale malt biscuit.

Flavor follows: light overall, hop-forward and juicy, with a slightly dank finish. Can still taste a nice presence of pale malt and grain, despite the low ABV and hop prevalence.

Very light and drinkable; lively; minimal sting; medium length wet finish.

This is a really good session IPA. It carries more heft and body than most, while still showcasing plenty of hops.

Older can I got as an extra. Started off tasting great, but fell off quickly. Smell went downhill after a few minutes as well. I'm guessing this had to do with the age of the beer. Think I'd really enjoy a fresh one as it showed some amazing promise upon first pouring.

a: extremely pale yellow color, almost a grainy color with a 1 finger frothy soapy white head. looks similar to a pilsner

s: pineapple, garlicy simcoe, fresh dough, lemongrass, and some light caramel

t: very light flavor. garlic/onion hops, grapefruit, a hint of pineapple. these are followed up by a nice biscuty/flatbread flavor, and a nice caramel strawberry sweetness. very light tasting

m: light mouthfeel, but a large amount of carbonation that really fills out on the tongue

o: for a lower ABV it delivers a taste you would expect from a quality brewer. slightly hoppy, light sweetness, and a nice bready malt presence. its a tad too carbonated to be the extremely sessionable for me, but definitely a good beer to drink a few of if your looking to refresh

Can from Whole Foods.

A crystal clear light yellow with a dense, white head with nice retention and lacing, this looks solid. The nose is great. Bright citrus with some pine, this is what you'd expect for the style. The citrus is a clean, mildly lemony and moderately orange peel like blend of hop aromas, and the pine is, well, pine-like. Crisp and cracker-like, malt character is minimal here. The palate opens with a blend of hop flavors, delicate but forward with the aforementioned blend, the mildly lemony like hop bitterness edging out the more orange-like flavors. Crisp and clean on the palate, this beer is light in body, crisply carbonated, and drying and mildly bitter with a wonderful, long-lasting fruitiness on the finish. Excellent stuff.

Sampled on tap at PP Carsbad. Very clear light straw in color with minimal head. Subtle grass and floral nose. Bitter hop flavor through out with pine and a bit of sweet citrus backing. Clean but uneventful finish. Solid for a session able IPA but struggling to make my top 5 sessionable IPAs.
