Nice off white head that layers and layers with every pull. Its almost like a shaving cream type lather just smothering this brew. Huge hop presence as expected but this beer has an amazing ability to refresh the palate. Grapfruit/apricot fills it out. Malt presence is soothing although it is overpowered for the most part. Beer wanders on the palate, very silky and smooth, and has an amazing drinkability.

Brought home a growler of this with me from SoCal since I don't make the trip too often. Shared it with a bunch of friends on a Sunday night. This is a beer that packs a strong alcoholic punch. Had about two pints of this myself and I was pretty out of it. Pours a hazy copper colour. Piney, fruity, and candy sweetness in the nose. Hints of citrus, lemon, apple and a nice earthiness. Very alcoholic and bitter. A pretty aggressive, strong and bold DIPA. Low in carbonation, makes for a smooth drink. A very good tasting DIPA.

If i buy two of these, do i ask for a dime bag? :)

A burnished copper color bordering on burnt orange rind color filled my glass with a good amount of head that pretty much lasted and left some nice lacing. The aroma of orange blossoms and citrus waff to your nose and i felt like i was walking in an orchard, very nice.

The taste of citrus and pine hit your palate but just a little on the bitter or herbaceous side. Slight notes of malt linger in the mix. I think a little more malt backbone to carry the hops and bring it out more would suite me better. (in no way am i implying that I know more than Mr Nickels, this is just the way the taste hit me at this sitting). The carbonation was on the mark and this brew felt great on the palate. Good punch and finish.

I had this beer on tap at O'Brien's. Tom Nickel brewed it for Pizza POrt, hence the name, Nickel Bag. This beer pours a cloudy orange color with an off white head. the head fades slowly, leaving a thin layer and lots of laces. This beer has a hoppy, piney aroma. It also has a slight cirtus aroma, with hints of lemon. I can not detect the alcohol in the aroma. This beer does not taste as hoppy as the aroma led me to believe. It tastes piney. Behind the piney flavor, I detect a citrusy, lemony flavor. Hoppy, but not as hoppy as I thought. This is definately a refreshing beer. It is a little aggressive, but not overly, like some DIPA's. It leaves a piney aftertaste. I think this beer might make a decent session beer. The flvor might be slightly aggressive, but not overly, and although it might be just a little high in alcohol, it is good and refreshing. Definately worth a try. Hats off to you Tom.

Visited Pizza Port C-Bad on the way home from work, Noticed that they were offering the Nickel Bag brewed by Tom Nickel of O'Brien's pub in San Diego, I had to have it.

Excellent brew dry hopped with Centennial and Amarillo Hops. This bad boy poured a cloudy copper color. Descent off white head and good bubbly lacing. Great carbonation. Huge hop aroma smells great. Nice sweet malt flavor followed by a huge hoppy punch in the palate. Awesome citrus bitterness.

Perfect balanced of malts and hops!

Awesome Brew not sure the ABV but i put down 2 pints and I felt nice. I'll try to stop by again for some more.

Cheers!
