Canned on 4/27; consumed on 10/22 (!) - was expecting this to be stale, but was pleasantly surprised. Poured from a tall-boy into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.

The hop bill is a little different than the description above - Citra, Hull Melon, and Motueka, but no Ahtanum or Melon Blanc.

Pale, slightly hazy Naples yellow with a thick fist of off-white suds above; dense tendrils of soapy lacing; superior retention.

Fragrant as soon as you crack the can open with a wave of honeydew, kiwi-berry, and lime zest up front. Sweet honey/cracker note as the beer warms.

Bright citrus-laden palate entry with lime and tangerine soon joined by honeydew and farm-stand strawberries. Hints of pineapple and Korean pear lead to the crisp moderately dry finish. Mild but persistent bitterness; quite clean. Impressively refreshing.

Soft (thanks to the oats no doubt) mouth-feel, but with a zesty and deeply refreshing crispness as well. ABV is well disguised.

Almost tempted to rate this higher which surprised me given how long this has been sitting on the shelf - worth seeking out a fresh pack (at least with the hop bill mentioned above).

Pickleweed Point pours a light golden yellow with a 2-finger, lose knit head that fades leaving some moderate lacing down the glass. Smell is citrus fruit with grapefruit, melon and lemon, with a hint of earthiness, hops and malt. Taste is slightly sweet with a citrus flavor that finishes bitter, yet soft due to the oats.

I dunno if I got an old can, but this I can already tell is gonna be a double digit negative deviation kind of score for me, wow.

Pours a light hazy kind of yellow with 1/3" white head. I didn't get anything in the way of Citra hops in the nose, it was pretty much just a grapefruit bitterness at best, really lacking in the nose department given the Pizza Port pedigree for making good hoppy beers (and yet seemingly always choosing their lesser ipas to can while the greats remain draft only, i.e. pseudo ipa).

The taste is more grapefruit, I guess the Ahtanum hop is really the only once I get some semblance out of, the Melon Blanc, like the Citra for aroma, just doesn't cut through, unless that too is similar to a generic old school C hop vibe. Its generic grapefruit bitterness for this one. The body is fine, its that usual Pizza Port light pale toasted malt thing, not overly heavy or syrupy. I didn't think the oats smoothed it out like it would in a NE ipa kind of job. Overall, this was kind of disappointing.

Purchased single tall can 16 fl. oz from local Solana Beach bottle shop. Living close to brewery in Carlsbad, I feel good about the canning date being 5/5. First off, Pizza Port has great beer. There is a lot of hype with the pizza/beer combo but its literally almost always worth it.

Look: Light golden yellow, thin layer of head

Aroma: melon rind, citrus, grapefruit

Taste: Tropical notes immediately, getting some nice fruit forward melon character, strawberry, peach, with some subtle earthy notes, and finishing with bitterness. But not overly bitter or astringent.

Mouthfeel: the oats definitely give this a "fuller" feel, but theres some nice carbonation to pile in here. It's refreshing, and isn't overly sweet or loaded with hop flavor. Leaves the pallete nicely.

Overall, this is a great IPA. Not leaning to heavy hop-footed on the "West Coast style " but certainly a solid balance of some new hops for me (Motueka, Ahtanum) which I believe are NZ strains. I read that Hull melon/Melon blanc is the daughter of Cascade. German origin. I love when I get to taste something new and unique to my palette. This is really refreshing and flavorful beer that has some great fruity and citrus characters that most people who enjoy this style would approve.

Ok, well, let’s set a few things straight first: calling a beer PickleWeed is like a girl telling me her name is Gertrude - not a good start. That being said, this one is sleek. Pours a beautiful straw luminous hue like Jean Harlow before she kicked the bucket. Taste wise had Raul thinking Nelson lite - which is never a bad thing. At $2.79 a t’all boy, this one is a winner like Cigar running down the stretch.

A 16oz can with a canned on date of 5.1.18

L - Pale yellow, 1 full finger of head

S - Hoppy - mostly citrus.

T - Tasty as heck for a 6% WIPA. Nicely balanced citrus and bitter.

F - Medium body and well carbonated.

O - Another excellent IPA from Port. Well done!

A: Citrusy hops, with a touch of melon hop aromas, coupled with slightly sweet toasted malt.

A: Light gold color, totally clear, with a modest dense white head that has adequate retention.

T: Moderate clean malt base, slightly sweet, balanced by citrusy hops with a moderate hop bitterness that lasts through the finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, with a fairly smooth mouth-feel.

O: Solid; the beer is well heavier and moderately bitter, but has a clean malt base and fairly strong hop oils and the oats help smooth the mouth-feel.
