Poured into a 16 oz stemless tulip glass, canned on 10/10/19. Pours a very attractive hazy dark yellow with a finger plus, sticky white head that leaves thick streaks of lace, with solid retention. 4.5
Smell is ripe melon, pineapple, papaya, mandarin, and apricot. 4.25
Taste follows pineapple, peach, cantaloupe, papaya, orange, and apricot really juicy with very little bitterness and really balanced. 4.5
Mouthfeel is yogi (Bigger than your Average Beer) soft gentle carbonation, slightly sticky but not dry, and 7.2% ABV extremely approachable but packed full of flavor. 4.5
Overall this is excellent a collaboration with Modern Times and Pizza Port. Now you know what is in my glass what is in my glass this evening, what are others enjoying this Fall evening. 4.5

This is far and away the best beer I've had from Modern Times. It makes sense, because it tastes like Pizza Port is doing the heavy lifting here. It's a NEIPA with a pretty unique hop profile. It is sweet in a way that I haven't quite experienced before. Your mouth tells you that it's sweet, and you say, "Oh, that's sweet," but then your brain has another look and disagrees to enough of an extent that you take another sip. That goes on until the glass is empty. Good beer.

Can poured into a Modern Times Beer glass
A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a light layer and laces very nicely.
S: Bright, zesty citrus, light tropical and fruity notes, a touch of pine, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Zesty citrus, lime, lemon, and a hint of tangerine, a little spicy pine, tropical fruit, guava, passion fruit, pineapple, white grape, and apricot, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Bright and very easy drinking. The New Zealand hops bring some great flavor to the party. Really solid collab between 2 great breweries.

This tastes like a pale ale and smells like someone near by was thinking about malt. It’s very drinkable but very light on the nose and the palate. It’s nice on a hot day because it’s so light but a malty pale ale is not what I was expecting from SD brewers who put ipa on the can. It’s limited and pricy, for the money maybe not worth it.

This is a delicious beer. I’d call it a West Coast dry-hopped hazy pale ale, but go ahead and call it a hazy IPA because that’s what’s hot right now and it’s what got me to buy it.
For me the challenge is that I don’t consider this beer hoppy enough to be called bitter but those who don’t like IPAs would pucker and complain.
My stream of consciousness notes: amazing can art, collaboration between two amazing SD brewhouses I love, looks good in the glass—pale golden and hazy, smell is sorta weak but I dive in and find a medley of dry hopped goodness (tame citrus but some subdued zest and funkiness from the Nelson, but hard to finger just one hop flavor—a bit on the floral end of the spectrum), and a pillowy soft mouthfeel and a dry enough finish that I love it.
Kinda pricey I’d say but I’ve drunk two pint cans and I’ll be grabbing it again before the rotation ends. Palapa was more up my alley but this heavily hopped hazy pale ale is very good if not exceptional.

Pours an unfiltered gold with a creamy white head
Nose is a woodsy, earthy, tropical fruit
Taste is earthy, dank, some notes of pine and a nice lemon rind acidity in the finish
Has a creamy mouthfeel, below average carbonation, but a pleasant lingering bitterness

This pours a crystalline gold with generous foam. Nice aroma, light guava and wine grape notes. Hoppy yet mellow while sipped, with a gentle fruit punch character. Easy drinker.

Hazy amberish color with plenty of foam in the IPA glass. Quite lively, sharp, and sudsy on the tongue. Aromas of orange rind and Concord grape. Tastes of purple grapes and citrus with that touch of acidity. Fruity, as in mango and papaya, but with a mineral finish. Some bitterness and astringency emerges in the aftertaste and becomes more distinct as you sip.
Overall, it's a kindlier sort of hazy brew, though still plenty murky. From the 16 oz can, which is so similar to the version brewed by Modern Times I didn't realize I had two different beers when buying a few singles.

Pizza Port - one of my old time favorites, Modern Times - one of my newfound favorites, and when they join forces together under the “Beer Buddies Project”, I new the result would be memorable.
What Pizza Port makes is not the “stunning” kind of beer but somehow it always has such an impact that makes me look for their next beer. Modern Times on the other hand is very skillful with the intensity of the flavors so here we are, having a typical Pizza Port brew but with extra fruity intensity, a trademark of Modern Times.
And how is it? It is like sweet grapefruit and mandarine. It has some of the grapefruit bitterness as well, and with that citrusy zest to it as if you were biting into a real fruit. It is NOT your punch type of tropical IPA though but it has a very well-defined taste - which is very close to the original fruit. It is very similar to a lemonad made of real grapefruits with some SoCal orange juice or mandarine added.
And at the same time it is a great West Coast IPA at 7.2%. I think this couldn’t have been made better - and makes me want to go down there to Carlsbad once and drink through their repertoire next to a great pizza. Can’t wait!

Slightly hazy slightly orange gold with a uniform white head. Has glass appeal.
Slight smell of citrus, mango.
Im not a fan of hops blends beyond 2 or 3 varieties but this mix has character. Pleasing bitterness and enough herbal presence to add a dimension to the tropical taste.
Nicely filling in the mouth.
Canned on 6/29/19, which probably boosts the score.
Not a favorite but i don’t regret the purchase.

Hazy yellow, white foam.
Muted banana.
Nelson stands out which automatically makes this beer a good beer. I can't pick the other hops out, it's not citric and I don't get any Galaxy. They're all backseated, a touch sugary.
More burn than I expect with a hazy but works somehow.

Like a plate of Moon over my Hammies at Denny’s, I kind of got what I was looking for in this beer. And that is fine. When you are kind of sloshed at 2AM and you just need something edible to soak up the booze, a quick trip to Denny’s it is. And in this beer, Gentle Reminder, I was just hoping for something half decent. I wasn’t expecting an omelette from The Four Seasons - no no no. This is a Moon Over Mg Hammies beer and Raul is content with that.
Yep!

Sweet, overripe-pineapple, piney, and hoppy aromatics on this one. The taste follows and is nicely well-balanced between the sweetness and piney bitterness on the initial swallow. It has pretty good depth and feel for a single westie but it changes a bit as it warms. It takes on a honey-like vibe and the overipe-ness starts to clash with the piney bitterness. I think this one is best fresh and cold!
