Tap @ Hamilton's. Poured a bright, but hazy, yellow-gold, with a ring of white bubbles. Good lacing at the top of the tulip. Banana and clove in the nose with a touch of funky wheat. Some candied sugar-like sweetness as well. Lively mouthfeel with strong carbonation. More banana and clove in the taste that is mellowed by the stronger wheat flavors. More bitter-then-sweet than bittersweet. Tangy lemon zest. Periodic sugar/cake frosting flavors as well. Very nice.

Had this on tap at Toronado SD, served in a snifter

Arrived with no head to speak of. Somewhat hazy pale/golden, looks great.

Very bready wheaty aroma (no surprise there). Bit of clove, no banana.

Wow, huge mouthfeel. Big, big, big. Nicely carbed. They bring out the wheat in full force. Very well balanced with the yeast, no overpowering clove or biscuit flavors. Some lemon.

All in all a very good beer, makes drinking wheat juice fun again!

A - Clear light pilsner look. White small bubbled head. Reduces to ring fast, lots of tight bubbled lace.

S - Belgian yeast! The funk is there. Fruity and floral.

T - Spicy, floral, some Juicy Fruit, hard to discern the wheat.

M - Great balance, carb and mouthfeel.

D - For the ABV, pretty good offering.

The flyer hanging at PP Solano Beach descrbing the origin of the beer didn't mention it, but this is based on the Reunion 09 recipe from Terrapin.

Hazy, golden (almost some orange) in color, poured right to the goblet rim with almost no head at all. Carbonation was low, but actually was fine for the thicker mouthfeel that you might expect from a double wheat.

Taste was a very traditional banana/clove-like but much more balanced than most. Especially considering the ABV, which is nicely represented with a very small amount of booze. Unfortunately, I had to put this back fast to make the train, so I can't comment as to how this may have changed as it warmed up.

Looks yellow opaque with a robust head and good lacing - looks like a single belgian wit but more body.

Smell is typical clove and banana, and some nice ripe fruit.

Taste is more of the same, like a wheat beer but with a nice, smooth alcohol kick - kind of half way between a triple and a wit. banana, clove, vanilla, nice light bready malts, full bodied and rich for a wheat beer.

Mouthfeel is good, right amount of carbonation.

Summary: Wow, an incredible and unique wheat beer, I've never had a double wheat - a lot like a triple, but a bit lighter and less sweet. Highly reccomended

On tap at Hamilton's.

Beer pours hazy and bright yellow with almost no head, very little carbonation. Aroma is dominated by wheat and yeast, no banana scent like in several other wits. Like the smell, taste is heavy in wheat and yeast, beer is a bit tart but dry like a belgian strong pale. The beer drank a bit strong and the yeasty tartness made it slow to drink. Not bad, but I would not seek this beer out.
