A: Yellow gold with minimal big bubble head. Quickly dissipates.

S: Some floral notes with a hint of grapefruit and pine.

T: Single note of hops and all else is lost. Maybe a touch of citrus. Much too subtle accents produces a simple beer in an ineffective kind if way.

M: Highly carbonated with a front of tongue bite and a mouthful of bitter.

D: Has the hops bite but nothing to smooth it over as a summer ale. Light body

Served on tap at Morris Tap and Grill, in Jersey.

Pours copper clear thick white foam. Sticky. Mild malt nose. Light malt taste, toffee, breads, then a very firm hop bitter. Strong aftertaste. Lots of flavor, but a persistent bitter hangs around a little too much.

Had on tap at Union Ale House

Appearance: 1/3 inch head, hazy, orange/yellow in color, moderate carbonation

Smell: pine hops, grapefruit, and other citrus

Taste: pine hops, grapefruit, orange, lemon, small caramel malt

Mouthfeel: light bodied and carbonation, bitter with a small sweet backbone

Drinkability: A more American version that English. I do like the pine flavor, but wish there was some more of a malt backbone to balance this out. Not a bad beer for a hophead, but not one I would seek again.

Very bitter light ale.

In the half litre glass you are met with a pale golden brew, only slightly effervescent. The aroma is wonderful, which was my favorite aspect of the beer. Very light bodied with no hint of malt. Hops charge in immediately. Extremely bitter aftertaste.

This is no way a Pale Ale. It's a very aggressive IPA. Maybe that is splitting hairs, but if styles mean anything this is clearly one of those times it makes a difference. So I was misled by the name, always a hazard. "Hop Monster" or "Shark Attack" are better descriptions. But, if you are an IPA fan, here is one with a kick.

Refreshing, hoppy, no big grapefruit; smooth as I'd expect from a Port, but not up there with their big guns.
