West Coast style IPA showcasing Strata, Azacca, Cashmere and Columbus hops. Expect aromas bursting with orange and grapefruit complimented by flavors of tropical fruit, peach and berries on the palate. The use of Flaked Oats in the grain bill softens the mouthfeel and lends cereal notes and a gentle sweetness. Our house yeast, Cruda, contributes dry, biscuity notes and firm bitterness. Find your Travel Perks with every sip as you journey through this beer.

Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $14.99 for a 6-pack
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Sept. 21, 2021
Consumed: Sept. 23, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Sept. 2, 2021 at 8:19 a.m. PT
Stopped by Windmill Farms after a 21-plus-hour workday, picking this despite looking for a TIPA to knock me up. Had two of the six cans that night, writing “Too tired for full review but first thought was 3.85-3.90 range.” So gave it a 3.75 on Untappd. Pizza Port website has it as “Travel Perks is a West Coast style IPA showcasing Strata, Azacca, Cashmere and Columbus hops. Poured a medium yellow clear color with six fingers of rocky white head. Plenty of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass, kind of looking like a snow globe. Almost perfect foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled Strata and Cashmere, followed by Azacca and Columbus. Also dank pine, resin, grapefruit rind, berry, lime, lemon and earthy malt. About as good from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted about as good as the nose. In order got Strata, Cashmere, dank pine, resin, grapefruit rind, berry, Azacca, lime, lemon, melon, Columbus and earthy malt. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Clean, abrupt finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Damn this was good for what it was. Outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)

The Travel Perks poured a yellow straw color with not much of a foam head. Citrusy aroma and taste of orange peel and pineapple. Thin on the mouth and pretty sharp bitterness. Good IPA.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.
S: Citrus zest, resinous pine, grassy herbal notes, faint tropical fruit, crackery malt, and just a touch of sweetness.
T: Zesty citrus, lemon, lime, grapefruit, and a touch of orange, resinous pine, a little tropical and stone fruit, peach, mango, apricot, and passion fruit, grassy herbal notes, crackery malt, and a touch of sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Clean and super drinkable, hits the target as a West Coast IPA, yet I'm a bit disappointed with it. Given the hop combo I kept waiting for it to open up beyond the citrus and pine, but all I got were faint hints of fruit. A bit more depth of flavor would definitely bump it up a notch for me, but I'd still happily drink another pint of it as is.

Handsome golden amber brew with plenty of fine-grained foam in the Affligem chalice. Sudsy and prickly on the tongue. Starts as a malty mouthful with a mild dose of sweetness. Moves right on to the hops, which are listed as Strata, Azacca. Cashmere, and Coumbus. There's a pleasant nose of orange but I'd say the bittering hops take the place over.
Yet another fall West Coast IPA out of the PP cornucopia. Sturdily hopped with a long bitter aftertaste. I suppose you might have enough bitterness after trying all these things and then having to drink six and not four, thanks to the generous packing. From the 16 oz can purchased at PIzza Port San Clemente.

Can from Uptown Market
A pale orange with a dense, white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is a blend of base pale malt, lightly sweet and doughy, with a soft citrus and pine character. Mild cereal notes too. The palate opens mildly bitter with a soft, fruity flavor, with citrus and floral honey. Bitterness is lacking, allowing the focus to shift to the malt flavors present. Drying, fruity, soft on the finish. Decent.

It’s fine - as certain things tend to be. Umm, yeah, that’s about it. It’s a bit vanilla like an ice cream cone (and by that I mean plain). It doesn’t speak to me. And really, it doesn’t say much at all (again, which isn’t terrible). It’s just an IPA that’s there, like you in your stained chonies, reading this in your parents basement. (Don’t worry, Raul still loves you though.)

On tap at Solana Beach. Classic West Coast IPA with a delicious, smooth hop bill without that usual bite and crispness from the style. Easy drinking and seriously good.
