Hot dog we have ourselves another hot one! And this time it's from Pizza Port. Sizzle sizzle sizzle, what's that smell? PP have cooked themselves up another good one - and here its a coffee porter! Damn thang in sexy all around like Emily Ratajkowski in a onesie - we are talking fly. Thing stays sexy down to the nose - smellin' all coffee and porter like. And then we get to the taste, the taste! Smoother than R Kelly singing a symphony, this one bedazzles. Rich, luscious chocolate and coffee that will set any player straight for days! If Pizza Port is cooking breakfast, Raul says: yes please!

I've been assured that no Bacon or Eggs were harmed in the making of this beer.

It's no secret that I'm a huge Pizza Port fanboy. So when I finally got to have another crack at this mouth watering gem, I took full advantage.

Bacon & Eggs pours almost exactly as you'd want an imperial porter to. Clean, dark, smooth. It's stained ebony body is accompanied by light induced auburn glimmers, and a wavy and creamy lightly tanned head. Thin bubbles stay around the edge of the glass along with a thin and fading island floating around. Only little specs remain clung to the glass.

If you're not a fan of coffee in beer, read no further. Having said that, this is sublime. A perfect high quality medium roast coffee converges on chocolate and freshly baked biscuits. There's even a faint suggestion of maple syrup in the background, but that could be a subliminal considering its breakfast imagery.

But wow, is this thing dominant on coffee. For me, that's absolutely fine. A perfect morning substitute for the real thing. Like breakfast in a can, this also boasts medium toasted white bread, with a chocolate croissant and a drab of berry jam on the side. I'd say the only thing I'm not a huge fan of, which may be appropriate anyhow, is the light presence of metallic/mineral water in the finish.

It feels a bit thin, despite a perceived initial creaminess and lack of carbonation. It's exceptionally well balanced however, with a wonderful full roasted character from beginning to end. Alcohol warmth comes through right off the bat, but is not distracting in the least.

Pizza Port, I love you. I miss you. Your beers are dear to me, and this one is no exception. This is a great coffee infused beer. I wish I had bought even more to share with everyone. Or perhaps I did, and I'll just be selfish instead and drink them myself. Cheers.

Pizza Port
Ocean Beach, CA

Nearly black yet dark brown. Mocha head. Consistent lacing down the glass.

Lots of coffee and some chocolate in the nose along with some sea salt.

Lots of coffee, chocolate, earthy elements, and hops in the flavor, though still remarkably balanced and incredibly drinkable. The coffee is definitely the star of the show, but it's not at all overpowering.

Medium bodied. Incredibly drinkable.

A wonderful imperial coffee porter. It's balanced, yet highlights both coffee and chocolate along with enough hop bitterness to balance things out. This is a great imperial porter.

This batch is 8.0% ABV. Canned on 2/28; consumed on 3/23; poured from a tall-boy into my Samuel Smith nonic.

Clear taupe body suspends a half-finger of buff foam, receding to a creamy collar and a smattering of micro-foam in the center. Broken, sandy, rouse-able lacing; average retention.

The coffee hits your nose first from some distance away, with berry and loam notes and a pleasant moderate (full city?) roast quality. Clean, potent, and inviting. Slightly sweeter malt notes appear as you bring the glass closer to your face, though the coffee dominates. Hops are subdued if present at all.

Suffused with coffee flavor, the palate has notes of chocolate and blueberries, with secondary notes of caramel and perhaps brown malt leading into the medium-dry finish. Warming yet crisp. No real esters so I'm assuming a clean American yeast was used; mild/subdued bitterness from hops, slightly grassy with perhaps a faint citrus quality at a stretch. More roast quality emerges from the malt as the ale warms.

Creamy, almost medium-bodied mouth-feel with good carbonation.

The coffee and the malty base beer are well balanced, creating a lovely (faintly fruity) bittersweet synergy.

The beer pours out a dark brown almost black color, with 1 finger of dark khaki colored head--------------- the aroma is of fresh roasted coffee and light smoke(smells delicious) ---------------- the flavors are of bitter coffee, smoke and lesser soy sauce, the beer has a thin mouthfeel with a smooth finish--------------- overall this beer was delicious, it didn't have a whole lot going on but what was here shined nicely---

not to many brewers go this far to add all these flavors - and not a bad commination , get a little bit of the bacon taste , more of the coffee - great beer
