16 oz can. Canned on 09/27/23.

I am a big black coffee connoisseur, so this elixir hits right in the warm spot of my heart. Delicious chocolate and coffee flavor. The smell is enticing, with a hint of vanilla. Beer can be difficult to procure, so I buy up when I see it. Highly recommended if you are a dark beer fan.

Pours deep dark coffee color with fading khaki foamy crown on draught. Sweet malty notes of maple and subtle (bacon) salt make this an amazing micro Stout from San Diego’s top brewery. Cheers to local “breakfast stout” with a twist dine right.

Tasted from a 16 oz can bought in Nevada.

L - Mahogany colored, opaque beer that has ruby highlights when held up to the light. Moderate tan head from the initial pour faded fast, leaving nothing but legs and lacing on the glass when the beer is swirled.

S - Aromas of dark, bitter coffee, burnt grains, and chocolate. The coffee really stands out, so much so that with your eyes closed you might think you are smelling an iced coffee rather than a beer. There is a low fruit note that could be from the coffee blend, or maybe the fermentation character.

T - The flavors are also totally dominated by deep, rich coffee. There is also a malty note similar to graham crackers, and a very low berry note.

F - Medium body with low to moderate, creamy carbonation. Strong bitterness seems to come from both hops and coffee. The alcohol is evident, but not overly hot for the ABV.

O - This is a big porter with a blast of delicious coffee flavors, strong bitterness and alcohol. The brewers have shown great use of the unique coffee blend and perfect execution.

16oz can. Canning date is stamped on can bottom as '10/31/22'.
Ruby brown colored body. Light head, about two fingers, which recedes to a thin cap and ring. Lacing left behind is in small spots and horizontal strings.
Aroma has coffee, which does suggest a blueberry note. Also has straightforward chocolate and dark roasted malts, close to caramel and vanilla.
Taste is overall sweet, which balances against the later infusion of more bitter dark coffee. Again there is some blueberry suggestions from the coffee. More milk chocolate than dark. Aftertaste contains both the coffee and the chocolate but it is much subdued.
A little thinner than medium mouth feel. Has a chalky and dry finish. Good supportive carbonation.
Enjoyable with the added berry fruit note from the coffee. Good blend with the sweeter chocolate.

Picked up at Bradley's in Tustin. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/18/2021. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy tan head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing and moderate streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas and flavors of big nutty medium roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, biscuit, dark bread/crust, blueberry, dark fruit, wood, pepper, pine, herbal, grass, light smoke/char, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, roast, charred bitterness on the finish. Wonderful nose on the coffee and fruity Ethiopian/Guatemalan coffee characteristics. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/bready malts, some sticky hops, chalky char/roast, and silkiness in the mouthfeel. Lingering resin and chalky drying, with no cloying/acrid/astringency. Mild warmth of 8%. Very smooth and very American on style. Really great showcase of aforementioned sourced coffees. A lot fruiter than I expected, but still plenty of rich malt complexity and a nice bitter/drying semi hoppy finish.

Imperial Coffee Porter
Pizza Port Brewing
Bacon & Eggs
Date: 11/11/2021
I was stoked to find this beer; it has been on my want list for quite a while. A few beers from Pizza Port still remain on that list. I served in my fancy Spiegelau stout, hovering around 40 degrees. The pour created a frothy and creamy light tan one-fingered. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The only existence of the head is a ring around the beer. The dark brown nearly black color charts around SRM 35. This beer has no hues and is opaque when put up to a light source. The ABV is only 8 percent; I have seen stout with higher ABVs have longer-lasting heads.
The initial aromas are coffee, chocolate, molasses, and roasty malts. Nosing the glass further, I detect a hint of campfire, earthiness, and some floral. The coffee is strong, making it difficult to smell anything else.
An abundant amount of coffee is apparent in this beer. The coffee is roasty, a touch acrid, and slightly smoky. The malts are roasty and bready. Other flavors in the beer are earthiness, chocolate, molasses, caramel, and cereal grains like oats.
The mouthfeel is somewhat astringent and dry. The body is medium, has medium carbonation, and has a pleasant finish.
This porter is fabulous; it has everything anyone who enjoys coffee want in a beer. I love the immense amount of coffee without it being chewy and thick. This beer would be great on a beautiful fall evening looking at the stars. I enjoyed every sip of this beer.
