Growler from Stan. Thanks.

Appearance: Pale and brilliantly clear pale amber. Pours with a finger of head that retains well.

Smell: A shitload of grapefruit and pine. Surprisingly not all that sweet - a bit of candied citrus. Resinous and citrusy but dry, very light for the ABV. Amazingly clean and bright.

Palate: Candied grapefruit, orange and pine. Light bodied and delicious, amazingly well hidden booze. This shit is awesome.

On tap at Pizza Port Ocean Beach. Tulip.

A: Burnished yellow gold with two inches of frothy white sea foam. Excellent retention. Sheets of soapy white foam are left clinging to the glass. Perfect clarity.

S: Dank pine resin with pronounced tangerine and grapefruit. The citrus is pungent and expressive with bright guava, mango, and passion fruit aromatics. Lightly floral, with a light candied sweetness.

T: Juicy tangerine and grapefruit with lesser notes of orange flesh and mango. Clean and crisp with a light candied malt sweetness. Alcohol is very well hidden. Only warmth on the palate gives any indication of the potency. Resinous pine is pervasive. The dry finish has some grapefruit rind and orange pith with a lingering citrus flesh laden bitterness. Again, no alcohol flavor is evident but there is a light spiciness.

M: Medium body with upper medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth, dry, and sticky.

Overall: Yiga does it again. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite brewers of hoppy beers. This is dangerous.

Pours a crystal clear golden color with white head continuously being fed by the carbonation bubbles migrating from the bottom. Light, lemony notes on the bouquet. Soft, cottony mouthfeel with a little more of an alcohol presence than it's sibling, Get Wet. Lemon esters at the start and through the middle, but finishes with bitter grapefruit citrus.

Growler at Alex's Birthday Bash @ Pipeworks!

A - Pours an amber/copper color, white head, sticky lace.

S - Bitter hops, light malty notes, smooth booze. I couldn't believe this DIPA was 9.5%...I would have guessed 7% or so. Impressive. Massive hop aroma, but exactly what I'm looking for.

T - Citrus, grapefruit, light floral notes, dank & resinous while keeping a nice smooth bitter note. Alcohol is well-hidden for approaching 10%. Finish is oily dank pine with a touch of sweetness.

M - Medium body, good carbonation, oily finish.

O - Another top-notch DIPA from Pizza Port. Time and time again, I think these guys are making some of the best hoppy beers in the country. I had several of these pours but had to stop before I passed out at 4pm. The smoothness of this beer reminded me of Heady Topper, but this one tasted better. I want more!

Growler shared by Alex (Masterski) at his B-Day bash at Pipeworks. Served in a New Glarus tasting glass.

A: Pours a clear and yellowed amber color with thick and frothy pure white head. It has some great stick and a thick cap and collar that follows me down the glass.

S: Pears, candied berries, some melon and nice flowery hops. Grapefruit and a sweet malt body make the majority of the nose, but it's nice and there isn't any detectable booze.

T: The booze is slightly there in the taste, but it has some of the great notes from the nose. Candied pears and grapefruit with some floral hop notes. Mild grass and some piney bitterness in the finish. Sweet bready malts compliment each sip.

M: Slightly oily, but surprisingly light for how big the beer is. There is nice carbonation level as well.

O: This was definitely a hit. Nice and refreshing for how big the beer is and the hop profile hit a wide spectrum. A must try.

Thanks to Shane for the hook-up on this one. Multiple taster glasses consumed at my birthday bash.

A - White foam settles to a collar, wisps, and a few specks of lace. Transparent golden body.

S - As you'd expect, there are a ton of hops. Ripe orange flesh, grapefruit rind, juicy tropical fruits, light dankness, touch of herbs, and a nice sugary malt backbone to remind you that this is a DIPA, as there's no alcohol to be found.

T - The taste is less sweet, with juicy citrus and bitter peel and rind flavors dominating, and less of the tropical fruit flavors. Malt character is a bit breadier, and there's a moderate but manageable bitterness in the finish. More of a 4.25, but not quite as excellent as the aroma.

M - Super oily and resinous, with a juicy medium-full body, and medium-low carbonation. Alcohol doesn't really show up much considering the 9.5% ABV.

D - We crushed the growler to get the party started. Another well-crafted hoppy offering from Pizza Port, but a tick below Cho-Saiko or Poor Man's in my book. I suspect this was an A+ a month ago at the source.
