On-tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad
The pour is orange in color with a white head, nice lacing on it, too. Intense grapefruit and pineapple aroma. Tons of pine in there, too. A bit of sweet malt, mostly caramel, and a touch of floral hops. The citrus flavor is quite strong with plenty of grapefruit. Pineapple, pine, and tangerine add to the awesome hop flavor. Mild bitterness with a pleasant malt sweetness throughout.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Tulip.
A: Burnished yellow gold with a mountainous frothy white head. Great retention, great color, and great clarity. Lots of lacing.
S: Tangerine, orange, apricot, lemon, floral notes. A little sweetness but no specific malt character I can pinpoint. Pine resin is evident. Interesting hop profile. A bit different but nice.
T: Tangerine flesh, orange, a little lemon peel, and resinous pine. There's a dash of melon. Pretty dry with a little cracker and a touch of breadiness. Upper moderate dry bitterness with some booziness in the finish.
M: Medium body with upper medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is dry and sticky.
Overall: A pretty good Double IPA, though a bit too much alcohol flavor. It's interesting to try a Sorachi Ace Double IPA.
