The dark muddled mahogany fluid builds no head at all.

An even nicer surprise draft during this past weekend's BA Day--having never had any version of this--the nose is luscious dark caramels, Reisen, cocoa dusted prune and even black pepper.

However, the sticky palate strongly leads with that prune, as well as some booze, likely due to being on the thinner side, though a bit of char crops up in the drying swallow.

Pours a hazy darker brown with off-white head. Whiskey, caramel, nuts, dark fruits on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with a raisin and whiskey sweetness.

Pours a dark chocolate brown color that's nearly opaque with dark mocha/mahogany edges and a one finger beige head that quickly settles into a thin ring. Mediocre retention, disappearing mid way through the pour with minimal spotty lacing left behind. Carbonation looks low but this beer has nice color.

Sweet boozy aroma with a really nice barrel presence that's nicely integrated into the notes of the base. Slightly charred oak with sweet, boozy bourbon, toasted coconut and silky vanilla bean. Underneath, there is faint roast with coffee bean and burnt malt countered by luscious, dessert-like sweetness. Hints of bakers chocolate, fudge and licorice. Smells pretty nice with pleasant barrel notes but could use heavier roast.

Medium body, slightly viscous with soft carbonation and prominent barrel notes. Charred oak, spicy bourbon and vanilla stand out without obliterating the other flavors. Underneath, there's a nice balance of dark roast and lighter malt sweetness. Malt bill is more robust than nose hinted out but still less than expected. Charred toast, burnt sugar, coffee bean and bitter dark chocolate countered by caramel, toffee and dessert-like sweetness. Well balanced, complex and deceptively drinkable.

Slightly better than Buffalo Trace, but honestly they're pretty similar.

On tap at Voodoo Homestead in Homestead, PA.

Pours a rich dark brown, with a small fizzy head, and not much lacing.

Smells really f'in awesome- some caramel, smoke, chocolate, roasted malt, leather, tobacco, and toffee.

This is a really unique wee heavy and I love it. There's a lot more chocolate and roastiness here. It seems of this character comes from the barrels themselves- I get a dark, bitter charred character, but the chocolate flavors are unexpected and really nice. It feels a bit more like a barleywine, or even a stout, than a wee heavy, but it also sort of just defies conventions, which is just fine. There's some leather, tobacco, toffee, and caramel too, with some oak and vanilla. The alcohol is not present, at all. It's either really well-crafted in that way, or the aging has mellowed this out.

This is pretty thick bodied, with a rich, slightly creamy mouthfeel, and a lower level of carbonation. It's really drinkable.

Another winner- might be the best scotch ale/wee heavy I've ever had.
