12oz bottle poured into an East End Brewing snifter:

Look: Pours a nice jet black color with about an inch of head. Minor lacing present with some retention.

Smell: Notes of bourbon right out of the gate! As it warms notes of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla appear as well!

Taste: Nice notes of bourbon very present but not overwhelming like some barrel aged beers can be! Coffee, vanilla, and chocolate round this out for a nice beer! Digging the barrel aging of a low ABV stout!

Feel: Medium bodied.

Overall: Very solid barrel aged breakfast milk stout from the crew at Voodoo! Nice take on a lower ABV beer that is barrel aged! Maybe some other breweries will give this style a shot! Next time they brew this I suggest getting out there and picking this one up!

12oz bottle poured into a snifter appears a very dark brown color with khaki head that is quick to fade.

The aroma is roasted and earthy with raw oakiness and a kick of whiskey. Almost a slight cinnamon spiciness as it breathes along with a hint of cola. Once it warms coffee and vanilla come out.

This tastes oaky and dry/roasty with plenty of earthen character, char and some whiskey warmth. A slight vanilla/caramel and chocolate/coffee aftertaste really rounds this out.

This is lighter in body with modest carbonation. I am a big fan of the base beer and this just adds to that experience with added alcohol warmth and dry/tannic feel. Worth seeking out.

12oz bottle, black label, 2016. Served in a Voodoo teku glass.

Pours a dark cola brown, nearly black body, one and a half finger white head, good carbonation, bits of lacing. Smells of rich bourbon, vanillin, espresso, light roast, touch of maple, cocoa, milk chocolate. The bourbon barrel isn't too overwhelming, but it's the first thing you notice with a slight smoky sweetness to it. Flavour follows; slight smoky sweet bourbon, light oak, milk chocolate, vanillin, touch of maple, roasted coffee bean. Not as much maple as I was hoping for; it's really more of a light drizzle if that makes sense. Mouthfeel is medium-lighter bodied, a bit thin but standard for a milk stout this light in ABV. Good carbonation, smooth, lightly dry and smoky finish. Interesting stout, solid but nothing too mindblowing as far as the flavours and adjuncts go, but there is just the right amount of bourbon barrel in there for me.

Really thin and low ABV to carry the bourbon flavors. Tastes like bourbon extract added to a milk stout. Slightly metallic in taste. There's some sweetness as well.
