A longtime cult favorite and one of Curt’s personal favorites makes its return aged 20 months in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels. This Wee Heavy showcases a complex malt backbone along with strong caramel notes and barrel character.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017, green session. Aroma has sweet caramel, some apple esters, dark fruits and booze. Taste has some astringent tart fruit notes and lingering butterscotch.

This one pours a thick looking very dark brown, with a small head, and no lacing.

This smells absolutely incredible- with blackstrap molasses, lots of bourbon, spicy oak, pumpernickel, rye, coffee, huge caramel, peat and smoke, and vanilla.

This is so wonderful. The Tenacious Wee series is so underrated- they are some of the best in the style in the entire country. This is staggeringly complex- you get spicy bready notes- think pumpernickel or rye, that meld well the spicy bourbon and oak notes. You get leather, tobacco, and smoke as well. You get some very light vanilla, and just a hint of dark fruit. I can't even.

This creamy, and smooth, with no real hint of booziness. It's surprisingly drinkable.

This is an astonishing beer. It's a real accomplishment, and Voodoo should be proud.

Amber brown in color and clear. About 1 inch plus of head that settles to nothing. Nice legs.

Nose is strong bourbon, malt, caramel, minor oak, minor vanilla, and minor smoke.

Mouthful is similar to the nose with caramel, oak, bourbon, malt, minor leather, minor smoke, and minor tobacco.

Mouthful is medium to a bit aggressive, mildly creamy. Carbonation is above average. Finish is mildly warming and semi sweet.

A baller of wee heavy especially if you like Woodford reserve. The bourbon is present from start to finish but doesn't overpower. It hits all the high notes of Woodford but is much more mellow. The only drawback is the carb level is a touch high. All in all a solid BA Wee Heavy. Highly recommended if you like Woodford reserve.

Bomber into a barrel room collection snifter appears black in color with a tan cap that is quick to fade.

Aroma has quite a bit of toasted coconut, vanilla, caramel, oak and booze. Almost has a spicy accent of cedar.

Taste is forward with that previously mentioned toasted coconut, vanilla, oak, booze and a touch of earth/roast. Dare I say even some dark fruitiness akin to raison.

Medium to richer in body with modest carbonation. A fantastic barrel aged strong ale regardless of what designation you wanna categorize it in.

UPDATE: tried this again 2/23/18. Way better. Didnt want it to end. Cellar helped.

this was a good beer. Looked brownish heavy bubble water. Smelled like cherry plum synthetic molass, covered in woody bourbon. Tasted like a bourbon wee heavy(think BWB) but darker malt, got some tobacco and leather. wooo it smooth though. No hint of the ABV. great body to it. Also a nice carbonation.

This is the best smelling BA Wee Heavy I've had the pleasure of drinking. The barrel aroma fills the room when pouring; similar to Rare. The beer is packed with flavor; a heavy barrel presence but well integrated with the base. Mouth feel is really the only characteristic that could be improved. A tad thin. If it had the viscosity and feel of CC BA Big Sound this would be a 5 in it's style.
Not sure why there are such drastic differences in reviews. The bottle I had was awesome; another hit from the Voodoo Barrel Room.

8oz pour at the release.
Something went wrong here! Boozy Carmel Green Apple on nose and taste. Similar off flavors that Voodoo had with Blackbeard's Delight. They should have drainpoured this batch rather than selling tainted beer to their customers.
