Notes: IBS is our imperialized version of our Breakfast of Champions aged 20 months in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels. Brewed with copious amounts of dark and roasted malts, this is liquid breakfast in your mug- we used an insane amount of locally roasted coffee, Ghanaian cocoa nibs, and local maple syrup rounded by oak and packing a bourbon punch to deliver a beer fitting to start your day off with. You can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning, right?

On tap at wakefest. Had a few pours. Black color. Maple syrup and coffee. More coffee than sweet, stickiness. This was a great stout, but it didn't stack up to the wakefest pastry stouts.

Wonderful beer. Dark black body, one finger mocha head, nice retention and not much lacing. Smell is rich bourbon and milk chocolate, dark chocolate fudge and cocoa up front, with a moderate espresso shot-sized coffee aroma, mild maple syrup presence which isn't too dominant. Altogether a complex breakfast brew just from the aroma which has plenty of maple but isn't as maple-forward as some certain hyped beers are. Flavour is a great combination of bourbon, vanillin, coffee, maple and chocolate. It all works really well in harmony, and reminds you that this is first and foremost a bourbon barrel-aged stout. The adjuncts are complementary but not dominant, so this is nowhere near being a pastry and coffee stout. This is a well done adjunct stout and I appreciate when breweries pull this kind of balance off.

Careful pour but lots of floating gunk. Smells pretty good. Not very aromatic however. Nice little hint of bourbon on her nose. Too sweet for my taste personally. Some cool hints of vanilla and a slight sinnamin flavor to complement the coffe-choco-bourbon. Feels good. Thikk. Still good carb.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017, yellow session. Black color with tan head. Aroma has cacao and baker's chocolate. Taste has lots of whiskey, quite spicy and bitter overall.

One of the best beers I've ever had. On draft at the Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017.
An overall amazing beer with a great barrel aged finish to it.

This pours out as a rich black color with a brown head on top, The smell is loaded with coffee & bourbon. The taste is outstanding, it follows the nose with Coffee and Bourbon but you also get some milk chocolate and a little bit of maple in there too, it's awesome. The feel was great, it was served on nitro so that just smooths this thing out like crazy. Overall it's really really good.

Like Fireman_RK, I too had a gusher.
Upon first pour the carbonation looked overly carbonated and unprofessional similar to many homebrews. Thereafter, it settled into a lovely mocha swirl.

Side by side with MDb2 the nose is certainly more muted vs a 2yr old beer. As it warms the maple creeps up, some tobacco and black pepper.

Creamy, milky, mouthful, perhaps a tad overcarbonated which takes the thickness down a notch.

Chocolate, maple, and heat on the back end. Nice beer

L: Rich mahogany and chestnut hues with a warm sandy head
S: Thick and pungent maple syrup that is supported by milk chocolate and espresso
T: Delicious breakfast flavors that combine pancakes drenched in syrup, a chocolate croissant, and a warm cup of vanilla bean latte - the barrel is well integrated and shockingly not dominant given the 20 months of aging
F: Medium/heavy thickness with a nice dose of carb
O: Voodoo continues to impress me with their barrel aging program. BA Imperial Breakfast Stout serves up an indulgent range of flavors with a delicious hint of barrel along the side. Simply fantastic and smooth from start to end. My only complaint is that our bottle was a gusher...although when people refer to this beer as 'IBS', I guess we should have maybe anticipated that. In any event, watch out for an explosive opening, but brace your taste buds for a decadent ride

Bomber poured into a matching 23oz mug. The brew is black with a dark brown head that is audible as it fades.

The nose is all about the coffee, maple and even some chocolate-like roastiness mingling with boozy bourbon and oak. As it breathes vanilla and caramel come forward.

The taste is boozy bourbon, oak and charred grain somewhat ashy with bitter chocolate and tons of coffee contrasted by maple sweetness, vanilla and caramel.

Rich in body with modest carbonation this brew is absolutely killer. So vibrant with coffee and maple, I cant imagine a better breakfast themed beer. Exquisite.

The smell is crazy good on this beer. Flavor follows suit bringing a perfect blend of coffee, chocolate and maple where none of the flavors dominate too much. Mouthfeel is good and silky, but if this were a tad bit thicker this thing would be in a class of its own. This reminded me of b2 Mornin Delight , a bit less thick but the flavors really stand out more as it warms up and is one of the better breakfast stouts I've had.

8oz draft served at release.
Nose is dominated by maple & coffee as expected. Taste follows suit. A touch thin & too sweet for my liking. I preferred this beer on cask before it went into the barrels.

8 oz draft pour into a snifter. Pours black with carmel head that disapates quickly. Nose explodes with coffee, maple and chocolate. Taste is similar with hints of vanilla and oak. Coffee dominates but is followed closely by male as it stays to warm up. The barrel is subtle but blends in great. Awesome beer!
