6 months into a gold mining expedition and so far you've struck nothing but dirt. You're on your last prospect: hopeful, expectant, confident. The first pan looks good, and it only gets better after that... You struck Black Magick. Starting off with a rush of fudge, char, and vanilla, the situation escalates quickly and as the temperature rises, you find yourself awash in Bourbon and dark chocolate to accompany the never ending supply of vanilla. Sip after sip of liquid gold... The golden pickaxe is yours, you gold mining son of a bitch.

love that this one has a little ringed head to it. just as oily jet black as the others, but seemingly more carbonation. which I enjoy in big stouts. smells pretty complex. a tad sweet. very boozy. a hint of almost a fruity smell of something. tastes incredible. the bourbon is so perfectly blended with the chocolatey stout characters. despite being so smooth, there is a little heat in a good way, and an almost "spiced" quality to it; by no means actual spices, but perhaps the barrel wood imparted a little stingy tannin quality. feels actually perfect. probably my favorite beer from voodoo thus far.

Green waxed bottle pours very little head. Smell is bodaciously bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate. Taste finishes off the nose flavors nicely. A bit hot though. Heavy med mf and light carb. This is great!

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017, red session. Aroma has fudge, chocolate and whiskey. Taste is sweet with fudge, caramel, bourbon and lingering toffee flavor.

L: Pours an inky jet black and obsidian hue with a thin sandy head
S: Tons of oak, cocoa, and leather on the nose
T: Dark chocolate fudge, slight vanilla bean, cacao nibs, and a bit of barrel
F: Medium to thick body and moderate carb
O: World class straightforward BA stout. Despite the lack of adjuncts, there is an incredible range of flavors present. The extended barrel aging is evident and provides a welcomed depth of flavor to complement the base beer. Very smooth and enjoyable.

8oz pour from the release.
Jet black, minimal head. More bourbon, oak and vanilla on the nose than BT BM. Still lots of fudge flavor. Quit a bit hotter than BT. A bit of time to mellow out should do this well. Thicker mouthfeel on this compared to BT.

This one pours a thick looking black, dribbles out of the bottle, with a very small basically non-existent head, and no lacing.

This smells unreal- toasted and charred oak, punchy bourbon, thick sweet fudge, vanilla, tobacco, and caramel.

Voodoo absolutely slayed this, as usual. It's so deep and complex. There's no really boozy heat at all, but you can definitely tell it's hefty by the big flavors and big body. The barrel character is just unreal, with toasted oak with a slight charred character, bold bourbon interwoven perfectly, and oaky vanilla. The base beer is just unbelievably chocolatey, decadent with caramel layered throughout. It's clearly a fairly perfect stout for barrel-aging purposes.

This is thick and chewy- it's not monstrously big like something like Dark Lord or Zhukov, but it's still pretty thick and dreamy. It's got a soft level of carbonation, enough to prop it up, but still pretty low.

This is really a work of art. Voodoo makes some of the absolute best barrel aged stouts in the world right now.

A fairly unique BA stout for my experiences, this dark pour is a barrel bomb. Toasted, smoked oak that acts almost as an adjunct. It plays front and center as the leading role. Good density and overall a nice straight stout with barrel complexities. Reiterate...barrel and smoke, check.
