Shiny black with a dense tan convex froth clinging in short ridges.

This has an unexpected smoked cinnamon note on the nose, with milk chocolate.

Milk chocolate and smoked cinnamon also come out in taste, with caramelized brown sugar and a slight presence of non-spicy black licorice, kind of like those blackberry gummies with crunchy beads on the outside. There is an odd herbal bitterness though, along with a hint of amaretto and an ashtray aftertaste. A weird Stout.

Slick, with minimal heat despite the ABV, with light airy bubbles and a semi-dry tingly finish.

Moderate yields a 1/2 inch fleeting tan head over a dark brown body with scant lacing. Nose of roasted and chocolate malt, not smoky, but maybe a bit of burnt attributes as well. Taste mirrors nose very well. Nice feel, but hoped for a bit more of a velvet feel. Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try this one and thanks to Rusty R. for the pair of these to drink and age. Cheers!

nice black appearance with tan head that dissipates quickly. Mild malty aroma with touch of sweet chocolate. Taste is a little harsh malt and sweet chocolate that has no alcohol aftertaste. A little aging would probably eliminate the harshness.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. The beer pours jet black with a dense creamy tan head of 1.5 cm. The foam fades slowly, leaving tight lattice on my glass as it recedes.
The beer has a huge molasses and brown sugar nose with some deep booze notes. Smells very rich and malty with just a little bit of a charred malt note mixed with the sweeter notes.
The first sip reveals a silky smooth textured, thicker bodied beer. Fine and gentle carbonation help make this a very drinkable beer for such a heavy hitter.
The flavor is rich deep malt profile with molasses and dark chocolate mixing with a bit of charred wood and some mild booze flavor on the finish. There isnt any accompanying heat with this big beer and I never find any hops either.
Im surprised at how easy this high octane beer drinks and think it is a little on the dangerous side due to high drinkability.
This is a bold malt forward beer that I am glad to have tried and I would buy again if I see it. I wish this brewery existed while I was in Town as a student at Allegheny College.

Obtained as an extra in a trade. Quite a nice surprise! My 1st review here on BA.

12 oz bottle pours dark as night and quite viscous, but a little less than motor oil. Minimal lacing left on the glass.

Nose is big stout with hints of roasted malt and dark chocolate. Just a touch of black licorice backed by a big whiff of booze from that 12% ABV.

Taste follows the nose with dark chocolate, bitter coffee, and dark fruits. Finish is quite dry without the booziness.

Carbonation is minus, but accents the thicker mouthfeel quite nicely. Just a touch less viscous than I usually like my stouts.

Overall a nice first experience from Voodoo! Looking forward to trying their other offerings, especially there barrel aged stuff.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter. No visible bottle date.

Pours midnight black with a really nice finger head. Head is tan colored and lingers nicely and has some lacing.

Aroma of biscotti, vanilla bean, chocolate, coffee.

Flavor has more biscotti, creamy vanilla, lactose, chocolate, roasted malt, hint of coffee, molasses, dark fruit.

Feel is thick and creamy.

Overall a really damn nice beer. First from Voodoo and it's a great one!

Well I was hoping more from this pricey imperial stout (€8 here in France). Overly roasted malts bring a big acidity and saturate the smell and taste. You can tell there also some darf fruits notes in the background but it's hardly noticeable. Its high abv makes it quite a sipper.
