Barrel really dominates the aroma, but it's more interesting and powerful than most BA stouts out there.
Pours with a very thin head that's fades away almost immediately. Carb is right for the style.
Taste is again nice bourbon and vanilla, but there's also a really pleasent caramel, almost maple syrup like sweetness that pops through as well. Roast character makes me think more of heavily chared barrel than dark grains, but it's quite nice.
Very smooth to start for such a high abv, you definitely feel it on the way down though. Mouth feel is just a little thin.
Overall very impressive beer that doesn't lean on 15 different flavor additions. Wish I had more than one bottle left.

Pours jet black. Aroma of chocolate, tobacco and burbon. Taste follows as such. A touch thin but mouthfeel is on point. Minimal to no head. Overall a top class BA stout. Great job Voodoo.

12oz bottle split from release day pours black in color with a thin khaki head that retreats leaving spotty lace.

The aroma is bold with barrel character smelling of coconut and vanilla upfront leading to chocolate, earth, coffee and oak. There is a whole lot of stuff going on in this thing without the crutch of adjuncts.

The taste has pleasant whiskey burn upfront leading to earthen and charred grain flavor then raison and finishes with plenty of barrel depth tasting not only of whiskey and oak but that nuance of vanilla and caramel that I love about beer that has spent quality time taking a long rest in barrels.

This is full bodied and lightly yet amply carbonated. Overall it is an awesome sipper with tons of depth. I was hard pressed to believe I could enjoy a Voodoo Stout more than black magick but damnit if this isnt pushing those boundaries. I am floored that a beer could be released thats bigger than black magick and yet somehow also displays more depth of barrel aging. Wow.

Thick and lots of chocolate. Barrel wasn't as dimensional as 4R BM but this was just an all around bigger, bolder, roastier, fudgier beer. Barrel was present but somewhat stagnant in comparison to 4R BM. I can only see this getting better with age.
