I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a six sample flight. It poured a nearly opaque dark mahogany amber with ecru head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had maple syrup notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bold sweet molasses leaning malt base with vanilla and milk chocolate presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

On tap at Hoppin' in Greenville SC.
Poured with a tall, dense beige head over a clear dark brown body. Excellent mouthfeel. Seems a bit too sweet even for the style.

This is a truly wonderful beer. Smooth and creamy. Taste is sweet and nutty, hazelnut and chocolate maple syrup and warm spice. Coconut fudge. Celebration of warm, boozy flavors.

Had it on tap. Beautiful creamy beige head atop a dark brown body. Excellent curtain lacing. Definitely an indulgence beer. House of 1000 Beers. Sat with Ben.

Oh my! Definitely the best oatmeal stout I have ever had. Enjoyed in a 12 oz snifter at The Pint Room, Dublin OH.
Roasted Malt backbone, with a chocolate forward mouth feel. This brew is unbelievable!

12oz nitro can poured into a snifter

A- pours jet black with a two-finger creamy khaki head that has long retention and leaves some lacing behind

S- smells of milk chocolate, vanilla whipping cream, coffee, roasted barley and a hint of caramel

T- sweet milk chocolate with a touch of caramel up front, followed by a kick of roasted malt that gives some earthy coffee notes. Mid-palate brings out the lactose sweetness, adding notes of vanilla and heavy cream. The finish gives more milk chocolate and vanilla, with a roasted note popping back out on the linger

M- medium body leads to a thick and frothy mouthfeel that turns almost chewy into a silky finish

O- thick and creamy with a good balance of lactose sweetness and roast

Bottom of can is stamped with BEST BY 3/17/22 so I guess I'm fucked. Actually, I saw these go up on their website maybe 3 months ago; I can't fathom why a stout would have such a short shelf life. Whatever.

Aggressive pour yields a mere pinky of creamed coffee head that never fully diminishes, merely thinning out to a sheen. Body is a dark doodoo butter brown. Picking up a lot of deep roast on the nose to the point where I'm checking the notes to see if this is a coffee stout. It's not, but it rather smells like it. I dig it. Tastes super-nice too. Damn. Load of chocolate and roasted malt up front that mellows into a sort of tootsie roll flavor on the back end. Lactose lends the mouthfeel a velvety smoothness. It's a little sweet, but damn this is nice.

poured from a 12oz nitro can into a snifter. pours a light brown but settles in the glass dark brown with a mocha colored reverse nitro head going on. lovely chocolate aromas as well as toasted malts. taste follows. it’s got a nice chocolate sweetness to it but it doesn’t ever get overly sweet. silky smooth, medium-full mouthfeel. the nitro serves this well. damn fine chocolate milk stout! never gets too sweet yet the chocolate is the main showcase. highly enjoyable.

What do you get when you put a milkshake and a beer in a blender? Voodoo Brewery's double chocolate imperial milk stout! And that's where this nitro-infused session begins.

Frothy, dark and deeply malty, the nearly black Cowbell carries a creamy pour with smoothie consistency. Its creamy and billowing froth drifts under the nose with a rich confectioner's sweetness of chocolate, baking brownies, vanilla cream and coffee. Deliciously sweet, the early flavors pick up where those bakery fragrances leave off with carmel, chocolate, toffee and sweet cream carrying the load.

Much the same transpires as the rich stout broadens across the middle palate although its more beer-like attributes start to emerge. Slowly shedding its sweeter focus, the beer's roastier edges of coffee, char, nuttiness and woodsiness has the session trending in a stout-like direction, eventually closing with a woodsy, coffee-like bitterness.

Full bodied, creamy and plush, the beer's nitro-infusion has an initial creamy texture that has the taste falling slightly flat toward finish. It doesn't seem to carry the same effects as does Guinness however Cowbell does not need the nitro as it is a fine beer without it.

12 oz NITRO can, best by 4/17/21, into Tallgrass snifter.
Had no idea how expensive it was, as there was no price in front of it. (hint : it was) I also had limited internet so I did not check the scores. Hopefully this lives up to its 97. Purchased at Martin's in NOLA.

Anyways, onto the mechanics. Hard straight down pour into the snifter, yielding maybe 3 seconds of fireworks, then it settles to a deep black body and a thin creamy ring.

Aroma of pleasant ash, maybe a touch harsh, with some dark chocolate notes underneath. Some vanilla and chocolate mousse, maybe some caramel.

Flavor is pretty good - brings that chocolate mousse thing forward, followed by chocolate ice cream/shake and slight ash, some very darkly kilned malt, and iron. It does the chocolate milk/chocolate malt thing well.

Feel is smooth and creamy without being empty, pretty solid for a nitro, with a bit of heft to the body and still some prickly carbonation carrying it along. 8.5% isn't absent but isn't prominent, sits about in the middle and doesn't detract from the beer too much.

Overall, if you are expecting chocolate here, you will get it. Probably the most chocolatey stout I've ever had. It doesn't quite match up to 4 Hands' Chocolate Milk Stout, but is sweeter and less balanced so if you're looking for a pastry treat this is it. I'm not sure I'd go for it again, but at it's price I'd assume it goes for around $16 a 4 pack. Not worth it IMO but it is a tasty treat. Not a 97 though.

Definitely the best milk stout I've ever had. Sweet while extra roasty. The nitro creaminess fits this beer/style so well. Better than a at least half of their barrel room beers that I've had (which sucked apart from magicks).

This barrel aged would be a spectacle.
