Only had the time to browse for a minute while friends grabbed a quick bottle, we were late to the Applebutter Express show over at Skipper's. The liquor prices were a little steep, grocery store chains have better pricing. The attendant was really helpful though, he helped us determine the best value for what we wanted at the time, which I appreciate. No word on beer, I didn't travel deep enough into the store to see. Will update review when this happens!

This is pretty much the only place I go to to by beer in North Tampa/USF. Conveniently located on Bearss in the Winn-Dixie shopping center it's right down the road from where I live and not far from campus for all the students. Very cool staff. Pretty good selection for the size of the place. And they always keep it interesting by getting new stuff every few weeks. The liquor selection is very good, too. Prices on most stuff, especially beer, are lower than most places in the area. Some liquors are more expensive than other places, but thats the way it is everywhere. I would recommend them to anyone.

Maybe it's because Tampa has a better selection than north central FL, but my impression was that this place had a great selection. Reminded me of a liquor store I used to frequent in MD... hard liquor on all of the aisles, beer on the back 2 walls. Looks a bit sketchy, but they have convenient shopping baskets! Let's see... they had a nice German selection at prices around $1 cheaper per 500ml than most: Weihenstephaner, Tucher, Paulaner, Hofbrau, etc. US craft: Stone, Avery, Weyerbacher, Rogue, Schmaltz, Heavy Seas, Bells, etc. I walked out with 6 bombers and a 4pack for $30. Very nice prices, should have scored more. Typical sketchy liquor store service. Sideways look (why didn't you buy liquor?) then takes the $ and bags quickly.

Liquor Depot is a strip mall store located in a shopping center to the left of a Winn-Dixie and a few other stores. From the front, this appears to be just another liquor store, but inside there are some nice finds.

First, make sure that you check the tall cold box to the left that house the singles and a few "deals" that arise from broken-up sixers.

Second, cruise straight back and there is a wide cold box wall containing basic macro beers and some craft such as DogFishHead, TommyKnocker and even some Ommegang big bottles. Craft selection is Rogue heavy!

Third, turn left and dig the shelves with some more sixpacks. I spied Avery Samaels, Mephistopheles for ~$6 and a sixpack of TommyKnocker for $6 and a TommyKnocker Imperial Brown bomber for $4.

This place surprised me with its decent selection. Especially since the prices were decent and Liquor Depot had a few beers that the Beverage Castle didn't have. I also must mention that the young cool dude behind the counter was super attentive, knowledgeable and friendly.

Worth a stop for a shopping wander.

I live quite close to this place, and before seeing it listed here never knew they had any kind of beer selection. Considering the neighborhood, I’m surprised they would stock anything better than Corona.

A visit yesterday showed they really do have a decent little selection of micros and imports. I cringed a bit when I found the selection of bomber bottles on the top shelf is stocked about 18 inches from a bright fluorescent light beaming down on them, but it’s nice to see them stocking a decent number of them nonetheless. Also, it looked like the better beers were stocked only in very limited quantities I actually consider that to be good because in a place like that you don’t want something sitting around for a couple of years before someone buys it – small quantities ensures better stock turnover.

Best of all, the prices were quite reasonable. I picked up a six of Tommyknocker Doppelbock for $7.99. They also had bomber bottles of Rodenbach for about 7 bucks. Not bad. I’ll be shopping there again.

Very near the famous Beverage Castle. Much more affordable, but the selection isn't quite as good. They have a solid Avery, DFH, Rogue selection. A much better than normal Russian/Polish selection and several assorted imports and micros to round it out.

Their prices are very good and worth the trip just to save a few bucks. Had Avery Mephistopheles for $6.49 which is very reasonable.

Alsoa liquor/wine store. Not a lot of ambiance, but I will say both of the times I have been the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful.

They also are one of the few places in Tampa that carry the best Potato Chips in the world "Tom's Great American Vinegar & Salt" which are to the chip world what Utopias is to the beer world. VERY extreme and not for sissies.
