It's a typical chain brewpub. I've just been visiting it because it's near where I work. It's always packed at lunch. Sometimes if I go at 1pm, I still have to wait for a table. And they have an unusual bug in their system of taking people to tables: dinnerware and napkins are not put on your table by the guy that shows you to your table. As a consequence, about half the time I'm there, they bring me out food but I have no fork. I see this happening to other people around too. Waiters whip out your food, then run off and you're left sitting there with nothing to eat with. Service on refills has been rather so-so. Sometimes I've sat with an empty glass for 5, even 10 minutes, before someone offers to refill it.

The food is pretty standard American-type fare, but it's well made and tasty. The beer lineup, likewise, is pretty standard: IPA, pale, blond, porter, stout, etc etc, all squarely in the middle range of the style. Pretty much what you expected from brewpubs in the 90s, somewhat disappointing now, but I guess they appeal to mass tastes.

I've been to this BJ's a few times now. Pretty large seating area, as well as a big separate bar area. Lots of TV's, both of the widescreen variety behind the bar area, and smaller screens dotted around the dining section. Standard selection of their beers, which are now apparently contract brewed at Saint Arnold's in Houston. Since they've switched to Saint Arnold, I would swear the beer tastes not only different, but much better. The Nutty Brewnette is now my favorite in-house offering. Food and service have always been good. Only once was the experience not above average, but that was because the Jambalaya on one visit tasted like they spilled an entire bottle of cayenne pepper in the mix. That experience aside, good atmosphere & location...and worth a visit.
