The vibe is a bit weird, though not bad. It's just that you'll probably be the only person in here looking for craft. I don't mind that, but I can see how it would be offputting to others.

The quality of the brands they carry is high. Deschutes, Founders, Bells, Jackie O's, Anchorage, Fat Heads, and 3 Floyd's to name a few as well as a decent import selection.

Their service is great, though the knowledge isn't much beyond one or two people. They will take your number and any beers you're looking for and give you a call if they can get them or even just if something comes in which you might have an interest. Really top notch.

Selection is usually decent, which means exceptional in this part of the country. They make an effort at seasonal and limited release offerings. They also offer some local breweries, which I appreciate. It's not uncommon to find some limited release stuff on the shelves for weeks when they do get it, though that isn't always.

Overall, you'd be hard pressed to find another place it's equal in the area. They're are two decent shops in Huntington now, but their distro is lacking because they are in WV. Ashland beverage is also good, but they don't have as much variety. This place has the advantage of Ohio distro in a very limited craft area. Definitely worth the stop.

Extremely surprising place in a rural, Appalachian environment. I was in Huntington WV for the weekend, and someone I was traveling with located some 21st Amendment Back in Black at this spot through the 21A website. Rolling up to the place, we weren’t sure if it was shuddered or still open, but alas it was open. A surprisingly good selection of beers were here- small, but a great surprise. Beers from 3 Floyd’s, Maine, Jackie O’s, Fat Heads, and a generally good selection of craft beers stocked the coolers. I can’t imagine the lady behind the counter would’ve been able to answer any detailed questions about good beers, but she was very nice. For a place that looked like a hillbilly bait shop, this was an awesome stop. If you’re ever in a South Point, Ohio.....

Leo's Carry Out in South Point, Ohio.

Vibe & Service: Not a bad vibe in here, and I always get greeted when I walk in.

Quality & Selection: Decent selection of craft beers in the back, some common beers, but sometimes some rare beers show up.

A little out of the way for me, but I usually come here every couple of months to see what's new. I can tell that most people don't come here for craft beer, since sometimes some really good stuff is stocked.

Liquor store that just happens to carry some nice beer. The place looks like a dump from the outside, it's obviously where people come to buy cigarettes and cheap liquor. Mostly BMC in the coolers, but the back of the store had some nice craft; Revolution, Jackie O's, Fat Heads, Deschutes, etc. Workers know nothing about craft beer. Worth a stop if you are in the area and don't have regular access to Ohio distribution.

Decent little bottle shop in South Point, OH. The building is a bit run-down, but they do have a decent selection. The spirits and macros are up front, towards the registers, but they have an entire aisle in the back right corner of the store dedicated to craft beer - half in coolers and half on shelves. They also offer a Build Your Own 6 Pack on certain beers. Good selection of bombers and 12 oz bottles/cans. While their selection on "hard to find" beer isn't outstanding, I've managed to find a few Sierra Nevada, Stone and Founders beers I haven't found anywhere else. I live across the bridge in Kentucky, so this place is nice to go to for stuff like Fat Head's, Jackie O's, and Flying Dog that aren't readily available in KY. For any Great Lakes Fans, they have a great selection of those guys. Overall, worth a stop if you're in the KY/WV/OH tri-state area.

A decent beer stop for an area that is craft beer deprived. Pricing is reasonable and they have a decent selection of good craft breweries. The provide a plentiful amount of their states breweries as well as good imports.

Dogfish Head, Founders, Weihenstephaner, Sweetwater, Rogue, Six Point, Clown Shoes, Avery and even some St. Bernadus. This is just sampling of their selection. They also make an effort at seasonals.

Good selection for the area which doesn't take much... only place in southern ohio, Huntington area with any selection at all until Ashland area. Prices aren't marked, a lot of stuff has been setting around quite a while, CHECK BOTTLE DATES. selection changes often.
Worth the drive from Huntington WV, bells, founders, dogfish, stone... to name a few of the breweries that cant be found in WV

I stop in at Leo's occasionally to see if they have any beers in stock that I can't get across the river in Ashland and when I stopped in yesterday I found they have picked up some from Sixpoint Brewery and more of a selection from Victory also, as well as from a local brewery, which made me very happy. They have also started taking credit cards, which makes transactions so much easier for me since I rarely carry cash these days. One of the young men working was very excited to see my selections and we talked beer for long enough to annoy the folks behind us who didn't seem nearly as interested in craft beer and the excellent selection as we were. :) I'll be stopping in more often when I'm in the area.

The atmosphere is what I expected it's just your average beer/liquor store, and everytime I've went there has been a pretty good amount of people picking up beer etc, mostly BMC stuff. The location is just right across the river from Huntington, West Virginia which I go to pretty often.

The quality and selection is outstanding for this area with Dogfish Head, Rogue, Stone and many many more. What really made me excited was how fresh all the stone beer was, and back in the fall they had a few cases of Dogfish Head Punkin Ale which was outstanding.

Service was great the employees are really nice and helpful as others have stated it is cash only.

Like was said before it is cash only. Good selection for southern Ohio, great if you are from WV like me (ie Stone, founders, brew dog, dogfish head, kentucky, Hebrew, unibroue, Guiness, Harp, Murphys, Rogue, weiheinstephan, Samuel Smith, . Great deal on $1 glassware, there is more in the back they will dig out if you ask. No make your own 6pks, not allowed by Ohio ABCC apparently, they got in trouble for doing it before. Overall it will be a monthly or so 1 hour road trip for me to check their stock. Staff not particularly beer smart, but very helpful and friendly.

I love Leo's. It's easily the best beer store in the tri-state area (WV,OH,KY). The stock can be a little dated but that is understandable since there are no craft beer distributors to southern Ohio. The owner actually drives a truck to Columbus/Cleveland a few times a year to stock up on craft beer.

The staff isn't really that knowledgeable when it comes to beer but it works in our favor. For instance, they have a table of "create your own six packs". The last time I was there I was able to get a six pack of expedition, two hearted, trois pistoles, maudite, old heathen, old stock ,and troegs doublebock for 6.99. Yea... I got 18.

All beers are available as singles and they sell all glasses for 1.00. Leo's is a godsend in what is mostly a beer wasteland.

My girlfriend currently resides in Huntington. We both have a taste for good beer but have a hard time coming across anything worth while down in Huntington. Thats where Leo's comes in.

A short drive from Huntington is Leo's Carry-out. From the outside it doesnt look like much. It doesnt look like much from the inside actually. Slightly dirty and dusty. The beer is a long isle with warm beer on the sheft to the left and coolers lining the right side.

Average selection as compared to here in Columbus, above average for the area. Unibroue, Columbus Brewing, Great Lakes, Stone, Sam Smith, Victory and actually a few small breweries I've never heard of.

The best part, as mentioned is that it seems that every 6-pack is fair game for singles. You can mix and match just about everything in stock.

Lots of beers looked like they have been sitting there for a while. Most of these this is not a problem, wipe off the dust and you should be good to go.

Another downfall is that they still dont take credit/debit. They have an ATM on premise in case you forget or do not realize.

This is basically the only place in the area worth going to for beer. When ever I am down at my girlfriends and we need something new, this is where we head.

Been to Leo's many a time, surprised that I hadn't yet reviewed it. The beer store is practically in a gas-station minus the gas. An entire mid-height aisle is dedicated to beer, sometimes both sides are filled, other times not. Behind this is a series of 5-6 fridges of cold beers. You can mix-and-match 6 packs, sometimes they'll give you discounts if they mess up while ringing up your beer.

The selection is terrific for the area: Alesmith, Thirsty Dog, Rogue, Goose Island, Stone, Hoppin' Frog, Buckeye Brewing, and Bells, to name a few. Staff is friendly, and the beers don't seem to collect much dust. Good beer store, overall.

Leo's is located right off route 52 in South Point which is a few miles from Ashland. They have a small parking lot in front of the store.

The store is pretty expansive inside and has a convenience store look about it. The beer is located in the rear of the store and is divided by a cooler section and a shelf section.

Leo's has a pretty good selection of beer. Regional beers like Hoppin' Frog, Thirsty Dog, GLBC and Bell's are mingled with micros like Stone, Alesmith, Victory, etc. There is also a pretty good selection of imports divided by Country (Russia, England, Belgium etc). Some beers are available in singles too. It is evident though that some beers are not turned over as quickly as they should be (a telltale coat of dust).

Service here is reasonably good, the owner asked if he could help me with anything. I have to ding them a bit for not taking credit cards though.

All in all this is a good spot to hit on the OH/KY/WV border.

Leo's is one of those places that I'm of a mixed mind. On the one hand, there's always a good selection of craft brews from all over the country. On the other, they're not always the most conscientious when it comes to keeping the product in optimum condition.

On the positive side, they carry, or have carried recently, Stone, Flying Dog, Left Hand, Weyerbacher, Harpoon, Pyramid, Summit, Shipyard, Shiner, Boulder, Rogue, Dogfish Head, Saranac, MacTarnahan's...you get the idea. And always a good import selection: Old Speckled Hen, the Sam Smiths, and numerous German, Czech, etc. Prices aren't bad, either. Not great, but not bad.

HOWEVER, often the stock gets old. Sometimes certain beers don't turn over well, and they have dust and such on 'em. Rotation isn't always as up-to-date. They've recently covered up two windows that used to allow lots of sun to hit the stock, though, so it's keeping better. Less skunking potenital, anyway.

Also, they're more than willing to let you spilt-sixes, if you want to sample without committing. And they'll let you "clean out the cooler" and take the orphan beers cheap, sometimes. I went on a run yesterday and got a case of these orphans for a buck each. Included in this were some real nice beers, like a Blithering Idiot, 2 Young's Oatmeal Stouts, Bellhaven Scotish Ale, and a Fullers ESB.

Bottom line: It's worth a trip if you're in the area (say, Huntington or Charleston WV).

Oh, cash only. ATM on premises but no cards or checks. something to do with Ohio law and liquor sales, they tell me.

Leo's is a god-send for someone living in beer-deprived West Virginia. I'm thankful to live on the WV/OH border so that trips to Leo's are quite frequent.

Leo's has a broad range of beers from around the world and a fair amount of microbrews. Dogfish, Stone, Rogue, Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, Goose Island, Anchor, Sam Smith's, Aventinus, New Holland, Southern Tier, Great Lakes, Brooklyn, Three Floyds, etc. can all be found here. Leo claims to be able to get anything you want in, but after requesting a bunch of different things from Stone, Great Lakes, Bell's, Rogue, and Founder's, nothing has came in.

The best thing about Leo's is that you can break up six-packs and get singles of whatever you want. Unfortunately, however, there is no flat rate on 6-er's. They apparently used to have a flat-rate but people began to exploit that with higher priced beers.

This is the only bottle-shop I hit up besides random trips to Columbus and I owe most of my beer-trying to this place. Without Leo's, I would be stuck with BMC in WV.

EDIT: Since the last review Bob, the guy that orders the beer and takes care of it all has ordered a bunch of stuff specifically for me.
