Pours a dark garnet with no foam and no lace. Really a kind of ruddy copper color.
Smell is very nice of coffee with some mild raisins and dates thrown in.
Taste is much more thin than the smell. There is a slight coppery aftertaste that mixes with the coffee. I was a bit disappointed with the taste when compared to the smell. If it tasted like it smelled I would give it a higher rating.
Feels watery and thin.
A much nicer beer to smell but still a good porter.

I got this at Beer Boutique in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

A. It is black, with a dark tan head, slight, that leaves some lacing.

S. It has a beautiful burnt scent mixed with a sweet caramel-like undertone.

T. It has a rich chocolate taste, more akin to fudge than a candy bar. That is actually probably the sweet scent I was getting. It has a bit of a grassy taste, a mild hop bite.

M. Smooth, with a slight carbonated tingle.

O. I enjoyed this. Nothing that is sensational, but a really good porter.

12oz. undated bottle served in a snifter.

Pours dark brown, with a thin tan head that immediately turns to a small ring..

Aroma: a lot of chocolate mixed in with medium and dark oasted malts. Rather subdued.

Taste: Moderate level of malt with chocolate and a trace of spicy hops. A little earthy. More from the roasted malt in the aftertaste than earlier on.

M; A bit light bodied for style, but very smooth; rather low carbonation.

O: rather light and uninteresting porter except for the high level of chocolate.

Rich, smoky aroma has notes of licorice and molasses plus a waxy hint like one of those old fat crayons. It pours a deep, warm sable with a fairly thick, if not too persistent, light tan head. Flavor is what I expect from a good porter: malty, smoky, with notes of molasses and burnt wood and hints of licorice and unsweet chocolate. Thick, rich texture has plenty of fizz and leaves a smoky, tingly finish. If you love porters, look for it.

Served in a tulip shaped pint glass from the handpump at Al's. The brew appears a dark muddy brown color. Sitting atop is a tan frothy head that recedes leaving spots of lacing on the glass.

The smell of this brew is fresh and roasty with a grain element that is somewhat oat-like in nature with a bit of sweetness. Chocolate and coffee is also noted with a light amount of citrus hops.

The taste is roasty with a flavoring of coffee, licorice and a bit of molasses. Some citrus hops are present but the bitterness of this brew seems to come strictly from the roast of the grain. It has a bit of musty quality across the back and some raisony alcohol inclusion.

This is a medium bodie brew with a light level of carbonation. It is smooth and easy drinking. It is easily approachable but needs a little work around the edges for me to pursue trying it again.
